I. SITUATION OVERVIEW
The Low Pressure Area (LPA) east of Visayas developed into a Tropical Depression on 01 October 2015 and was named "KABAYAN". On the same day, it intensified into a Tropical Storm (TS) and was given an international name MUJIGAE. "KABAYAN" is the 11th tropical cyclone which entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) this year.
It made landfall over Aurora on 01 October 2015 and tracked across Central Luzon. It left the Philippine land mass through Pangasinan and finally exited the western border of the PAR in the early morning of 03 Oct 2015 as a Severe Tropical Storm or STS.
During the passage of "KABAYAN", PSWS No. 02 was the highest storm warning signal hoisted, with highest maximum sustained winds recorded at 95 kph near the center, gustiness of up to 120 kph, and highest 24-hour rainfall amount of 134.0 mm which was recorded in lba, Zambales. "KABAYAN" stayed in the PAR from 01 to 03 October 2015 and enhanced the Southwest monsoon that brought light to moderate rains and isolated thunderstorms over Luzon and western sections of Visayas and Mindanao.
