Pakistan – Severe Weather (ECHO, NDMA, PDMAs, Media) (ECHO Daily Flash of 31 July 2015)

As of July 31, the death toll from the recent floods has risen to 86 with 60 persons injured. Over 2 200 houses have been damaged, more than 800 villages and more than 800 000 people (according to NDMA & PDMAs calculations) are affected so far, mainly in KP & Punjab provinces where disease outbreaks are also reported.

Due to the floods, 26 598 people have moved to relief camps and more than 279 000 have been evacuated to safer places countrywide. 31 596 tents and 1 680 tons of food packs have been distributed. 215 relief camps and 150 medical camps have established as part of the flood response countrywide. A severe weather system is likely to persist for next 3-4 days in Gilgit Baltistan and Chitral with the potential to produce Glacial Lake Outbrust Flood (GLOF).
