PAKISTAN

• Heavy rains continued affecting northern Pakistan, causing more floods. As of 10 August (NDMA), there were: 182 dead, 124 injured, more than 12 000 damaged houses and over 1.3 million people affected.

• Over the next 48 h, isolated thunderstorms may still affect some areas of northern, eastern and south-eastern Pakistan.

INDIA

• Heavy rains, floods, landslides, caused by the monsoon and Cyclone KOMEN, affected several areas of India, in particular Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, and Odisha.

• On 13-14 August, heavy rainfall may affect Madhya Pradesh (central India).

BANGLADESH

• Heavy monsoon rains and the passage of Cyclone KOMEN at the end of July, caused damage and deaths, mostly in Chittagong.

• Over the next 24 h, more heavy rains may affect south-eastern and eastern areas.

MYANMAR / BURMA

• Official figures are still increasing. As of 10 August, 1 002 928 people are reported affected, 99 killed, 209 316 displaced and 15 197 houses destroyed. These figures are expected to rise further, in particular regarding Chin and northern Rakhine.

• Over the next three days heavy rains may affect Kachin state and the coastal areas.

LAO PDR

• Floods affected many rural areas and towns in Bokeo, Borikhamxay, Khammuan, Luang Namtha and Xaysomboun provinces since 2 August. Needs assessments are ongoing.

• Although water levels in many areas have receded, provincial authorities have issued a warning for riverside villages, particularly along the banks of the Mekong River, given that further heavy rainfall is predicted.

VIETNAM

• Heavy rains affected northern Vietnam since the end of July, causing floods and landslides, mostly in the province of Quang Ninh. At least 32 people were killed (17 in Quang Ninh) and approx. 8 000 houses were damaged.

• Over the next 24 h more heavy rains may still affect northern Vietnam.
