Amman, Jan 13, IRNA - Mohammad Sadr, the special envoy of President Mohammad Khatami, here on Tuesday submitted Khatami's message to Jordan's King Abdullah II. At the meeting, King Abdullah underscored the need for Iran and Jordan to promote relations in all areas, and said exchanges of diplomatic visits between the two countries would increase. He recalled his last September trip to the Islamic Republic and expressed hope that Tehran-Amman relations would be further expanded in 2004.
Kerman, Dec 30, IRNA - Iranian president Mohammad Khatami said here Tuesday that a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) will be set up with the responsibility of reconstructing the quake-devastated city of Bam.
Speaking at a press conference with domestic and foreign reportershe also hinted that the NGO will include the President himself, and several domestic and foreign personalities. He said the Bam quake is in a different scale compared with similar natural disasters and lauded the assistance extended by all the governments and people in the world.

A powerful and destructive earthquake hit the city of Bam in the early hours of Friday 26 December 2003 in southeastern Iran in the Kerman province. Thousands of people are reported dead and injured. The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran is launching an appeal to the Iranian community in Britain and other benevolent people to help the victims of this tragic earthquake.
