New survey reveals alarming malnutrition rates in Turkana, East Pokot, Mandera, Samburu, and West Pokot

Nearly 73,000 children in Kenya are severely malnourished and at risk of dying from drought-related hunger unless urgent aid is made immediately available.

The warning comes as results from joint nutrition assessments conducted by the County Departments of Health and UNICEF, and nine aid organisations working on the ground— including Save the Children—are revealed.

“Investing in a response now is an investment for the future”

(MAPUTO, 2 March 2017) - Aid agencies are calling on the international community to assist communities affected by Cyclone Dineo following yesterday’s launch of an appeal by the United Nations.

The agencies work together as the COSACA, a consortium of humanitarian NGOs composed by Concern Worldwide, Oxfam, Save the Children and CARE supporting the Government of Mozambique. The appeal for USD10.2 million will support 150,000 people with lifesaving assistance for the next three months.

Concern Worldwide is implementing a project titled “Integrated Multi-Sector Support to Nutrition at Risk Communities in Sindh, Pakistan”. The principal objective of the project is to improve resilience of the drought affected population in Sindh province, with a special emphasis on immediate humanitarian needs of drought affected communities.

The appeal also outlines a series of immediate, practical steps that can improve humanitarian access and the delivery of aid to those in need inside Syria.
