The limited access to healthcare diagnostics due to severe logistical constraints in Papua New Guinea has led Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) to be one of the first humanitarian organizations to test the use of delivery drones. In 2014, technological challenges restricted the field use of this technology, but important lessons concerning acceptability and proof of concept are setting the stage for improvements in future missions.

More than 100 FSD staff including deminers, medical staff and logisticians have assisted survivors in the Ampara district since 28th of December 2004.

Dès le 30 décembre 2004, la FSD a déplacé l'ensemble de ses moyens disponibles dans le district d'Ampara, zone côtière située au Sud de Batticaloa, partiellement sous contrôle du LTTE* au Sud-Est du Sri Lanka, à la demande du TRO (Tamils Réhabilitation Organization - la branche humanitaire des Tigres tamouls).

Au total, 5 expatriés et 80 collaborateurs locaux (dont 7 infirmiers spécialisés dans l'urgence) sont à pied d'oeuvre avec 22 véhicules tout-terrain, parmi lesquels 5 ambulances équipées …

02 Apr 2004 description

On the 29th March 2004 the FSD started re-training two survey teams prior to redeployment.
On the 25th March 15 men from the Tajik Engineer Battalion were recalled to the FSD; where they carried out pre-training administration in preparation for the course.

The refresher-training course started on the 29th March, this course will last for two weeks and covers:
