Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, 6 February, 2017 – The Board of Executive Directors of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) in its 317th meeting in Jeddah has given the approval for US $790 million of financing for new development projects mainly in such sectors as roads, higher education, energy, and health in member countries as well as education and professional training for Muslim communities in non-member countries.
Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, 7 March 2016 – The Islamic Development Bank (IDB) and the Republic of Mali have signed a US $44 million agreement for Phase II of the Kabala Water Project. The project is expected to provide drinking water and improve living conditions for 8.5 million people in and around Bamako.
The agreement was signed by IDB’s Acting President, Dr. Ahmet Tiktik and Mali’s Minister for Energy and Water, Mr. Mamadou Frankaly Keita, at IDB headquarters in Jeddah.

01.09.2013, KSA – Prominent Islamic Scholars (the Ulama) from Pakistan, other Muslim countries and the International Islamic Fiqh Academy (IIFA) haved pledged to support the Polio Eradication Program in Pakistan. The scholars disclosed this during a two day session organised by the Islamic Development Bank at its headquarters in Jeddah, KSA, where they discussed the challenges hindering the implementation of the Polio Eradication Program (PEP) in Pakistan. The Ulama also commended IDB for its contribution to the Polio Eradication Program.
Jeddah, 06 August 2013: The Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, H.E. Muhammad Namadi Sambo has commended the contribution of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) to the socio-economic development of Nigeria. The Vice President made this remark when he received the Chairman of the IDB Group, Dr. Ahmad Mohamed Ali at the Royal Guest House in Makkah. The Nigerian Vice President stated that the approvals for the financing of projects approved by the IDB have received the endorsement of the National Assembly and the Federal Executive Council of Nigeria.
03 August, 2013 – Dr. Ahmad Mohamed Ali, President of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) Group, joined world leaders on 27 September 2012, at the United Nations Headquarters in New York and called for global solidarity to win the fight against polio. Subsequently, the IDB approved its financing of US$227 million for Pakistan on 11 November 2012, for supporting its Polio Eradication Program.
Jeddah, July 6,2013 : Dr. Ahmad Mohamed Ali, Chairman of the IDB Group hailed the existing cooperation between the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the IDB Group in their efforts to eradicate polio in three member countries of the Bank, viz., Pakistan, Afghanistan and Nigeria.
Dr. Ali, who visited the Gates Foundation in Seattle, Washington, last week, expressed hope to step up cooperation to include eradication of contagious diseases, increasing food security, and promoting health services especially for children in IDB member countries.
On the occasion of the 38th Annual Meeting of the IDB Board of Governors held in Dushanbe, Republic of Tajikistan, a number of financing agreements have been signed under which the Bank shall participate in financing new development projects in (10) member countries (in addition to the Republic of Kosovo) for a total amount of USD230.9 million , The details are as follows:

Loan for USD10 million, to participate in phase-3 in the Dangara Valley Irrigation Project with the objective of poverty reduction among the population.

Jeddah, KSA, 20.03.2013 – A mission of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) arrived today in Manila to oversee restoration work at a number of schools hit by Typhoon Bopha last year in Mindanao region, southern Philippines. They mainly comprise supplying orphanages, hospitals and schools in Somalia’s second largest city, Hargeisa, and other parts of the country with medicine, medical equipment, and other much needed items. It is also following up on the progress of the delivery of supplies and equipment to women empowerment centers in different Somali cities.

IDB thus recently delivered a consignment worth US$ 300,000 of medical equipment and supplies for upgrading and development of four hospitals in different regions in Somalia. It also delivered another consignment of the same type worth US$ 75,000 offered by a philanthropist to various hospitals in the country.
