Rome, 3 August 2016 – The biggest outbreak of Ebola in human history is over, but urgent investments in the rural areas of Sierra Leone and Liberia are needed if these countries are to fully recover, said Kanayo F. Nwanze, President of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), on the eve of his official visit to the two countries. “Ebola has had an enormous impact on the lives of rural people – many of whom are small-scale farmers who could not grow food or earn a living during the epidemic,” said Nwanze.

En Guinée la riposte contre la Maladie à Virus Ebola (MVE) déclarée depuis mars 2014 continue. Bien que les premiers foyers de la crise sanitaire soient éteints, la Maladie à Virus Ebola est présente aujourd’hui en Basse Guinée. Les préfectures touchées sont celles de Forécariah, de Kindia, de Dubréka, de Boké et la commune de Matoto à Conakry. Selon la cellule de coordination nationale de lutte contre la Maladie à Virus Ebola, les statistiques cumulées font état de 3 249 cas confirmés depuis le début de la crise en Guinée dont 26 au cours du mois de juin 2015.

Rome, 30 September 2009 - A US$15.60 million loan from IFAD to the Republic of Kenya for the Southern Nyanza Community Development Project is set to reduce poverty and change the lives of 500,000 poor rural men, women and children in Southern Nyanza in Kenya.

The supplementary loan agreement for the project was signed today in Rome by Mrs Ann Belinda Nyikuli, Ambassador of the Republic of Kenya to Rome, and Kanayo F.
