Thousands of civilians are forced to flee attacks of Boko Haram and military operations in the Lake Chad region. Niger is one of the countries of the Lake Chad Basin that hosts a large number of displaced people. Among them are traumatised children. The SDC’s Humanitarian Aid Department supports a project of the Italian NGO COOPI providing psychosocial support and a safe environment for those young survivors.

  • Du 22 au 26 Aout 2016, le programme Education IRC a organisé des rencontres avec les membres des Comités de Gestion Décentralisée des Etablissements Scolaires (CGDES) des écoles d’intervention du projet à Diffa et à Mainé Soroa. L’évaluation des besoins dans 25 écoles cibles a été finalisée et fait ressortir les matériels disponibles et le gap à couvrir. Au total 16 comités de 493 personnes représentant 207 femmes et 286 hommes ont participé à ces rencontres.

Le 22 mai 2016, deux convois humanitaires de la Confédération transportant des produits chimiques destinés au traitement de l’eau et des produits médicaux sont partis pour l’Ukraine, dans la zone de conflit. Une partie du convoi comportant du matériel médical et des médicaments a été remis à l’hôpital de Kurakhove ce matin. Les produits ont été transportés par route mais aussi, pour la première fois, par le rail.

According to the office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), in 2015 more than 700,000 people – mainly from Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq – took the Western Balkans route on their way to Central and Northern Europe. Switzerland is supporting Serbian and Macedonian non-governmental organisations (NGOs) within the framework of migration partnerships. The work of these NGOs complements the efforts of national governments and international organisations in meeting the most urgent needs of the large number of migrants.

Bern, 25.04.2016 - There has been some success in the fight against malaria since the turn of the millennium – not least thanks to Switzerland's activities in this field. Nevertheless, more than 400,000 people still die from the disease every year, mostly children under five. At the event to mark World Malaria Day on 25 April 2016, SDC Director General Manuel Sager therefore appealed to all partners involved to continue the fight against malaria with the same shared determination.

  • Du 31 mars au 1er avril 2016, IRC a réalisé une évaluation multisectorielle (MSA) dans le village d’Adjeri dans le département de Nguigmi. L’évaluation fait ressortir un besoin crucial en NFI, en eau, et en hygiène et assainissement. Le rapport final a été transmis à OCHA pour partage aux différents clusters.

  • Cette semaine, il a été constaté une diminution des mouvements internes. Cependant, une nouvelle attaque survenue le 22 décembre dans un village aux environs de Bosso a entrainé le déplacement de près de 250 personnes vers des sites assez sécurisés.

  • Les familles, du long de la Komadougou continuent de quitter leurs maisons et villages de manière préventive pour d’autres sites assez sécurisés. Il est estimé qu’environ 200 ménages de plus de 1130 personnes se sont déplacés dans la période du rapportage.

  • IRC a organisé une évaluation multisectorielle (MSA) du 10 au 12 décembre 2015 dans le village de N’Gouba situé dans la commune de Toumour. Le rapport a été transmis à OCHA qui l’a partagé aux différents clusters.
