WASHINGTON, May 1, 2018 – The World Bank approved an International Development Association (IDA)* package of $274 million today for four projects focusing on helping refugees and host communities in Cameroon with access to health care, education, social safety nets, and social and economic infrastructure. The package includes a $130 million grant from the IDA Refugee Sub-Window.

WASHINGTON, 1 mai 2018 – La Banque mondiale a approuvé aujourd’hui une enveloppe de financement de l’Association internationale de développement (IDA)* d’un montant de 274 millions de dollars en faveur de quatre projets d’appui aux réfugiés et aux populations d’accueil du Cameroun, portant sur l’accès à la santé, l’éducation, la protection sociale et les infrastructures économiques et sociales. Cette enveloppe comprend un don de 130 millions de dollars au titre du sous-guichet de financements spécifiques de l’IDA pour les réfugiés.

The book focuses on the largest refugee crisis since World War II: the Syrian refugee crisis. It exploits a wealth of survey and registry data on Syrian refugees living in Jordan and Lebanon to assess their poverty and vulnerability status, understand the predictors of these statuses, evaluate the performance of existing policies toward refugees, and determine the potential for alternative policies. Findings point to a complex situation. In the absence of humanitarian assistance, poverty is extremely high among refugees.

Some 550,000 people, mostly women and children, expected to benefit

WASHINGTON, September 15, 2011 – Over half a million people, mostly women and children, will be able to access nutrition, health and sanitation services in refugee settlements along the Somali border in Kenya and Ethiopia as a result of a US$30 million grant which the World Bank announced today.
