Chad: The outbreak seems to be under control. As per the end of W48, only the Regional Health Delegation of Salamat reported few sporadic cases. Based on the sitreps available (accessible online under “Current Outbreaks/Chad”), as per W49, no new cases were reported.
Nigeria: Only 2 LGAs in North East Nigeria are reported the remaining cases (Guzamala and Monguno).

Kenge, le 12 décembre 2017 (caritasdev.cd) : A l’ occasion de la Journée Mondiale de la toilette, les fidèles de la paroisse de Mwense Anuarite à Kenge, dans la Province de Kwango en RDC, ont été sensibilisés sur l’importance de l'utilisation de la toilette hygiénique. Dans un entretien accordé à caritasdev.cd mercredi 29 novembre 2017, la Sœur Delphine Nkufi, Chargée de projet à la Caritas Kenge, a parlé de cette activité, visant l’amélioration de l’assainissement et du bien-être de la population.

KINSHASA/DAKAR/NEW YORK, 12 December 2017 – At least 400,000 children under five in the Kasai region of the Democratic Republic of the Congo are suffering from severe acute malnutrition and could die in 2018 if they are not urgently reached with lifesaving health and nutrition interventions, UNICEF warned today. The dire situation has largely been caused by violence, mass displacement and reduced agricultural production over the past 18 months.

Kinshasa – Over the past year, the humanitarian situation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has deteriorated at an alarming rate. IOM, the UN Migration Agency is appealing for USD 75 million to urgently meet the growing needs of displaced Congolese and the communities hosting them in the eastern and south-central provinces of North and South Kivu, Tanganyika and the Kasai.

KASAI – Même si la paix est revenue dans de nombreux territoires de la région du Kasaï, les conséquences de la crise sur les enfants se font encore sentir aujourd’hui. Crispin est infirmier au centre nutritionnel de la zone de santé de Tshikaji, à une dizaine de kilomètres de Kananga. La zone a beaucoup souffert de la violence.

KASAI – Even if peace has returned in the many territories of the Kasai region, the consequences of the crisis on children is still felt today. Crispin is a nurse at the nutritional center of the Tshikaji health zone has suffered a lot from the violence.

Months without access to basic services
Crispin himself had to hide in a small room in his center when fierce fighting raged a couple meters from his center. When later, the center was occupied, he had to flee during three weeks. Today, peace has returned but “the population here continues to suffer“.
