WASHINGTON – The leaders of the World Bank and the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) have laid out an ambitious new plan to work together in the fight against extreme poverty and hunger.

Every person has the right to mental health and social well-being. We strengthen mental health care and psychosocial support for people and communities affected by humanitarian crises and in under-resourced settings through research, capacity building and evidence based advocacy.
Protection concerns in Southwest and Northwest regions are increasing as the Anglophone crisis deteriorates further.
The security situation is especially worrying in Batibo sub-division. Schools have been targeted and children are among the most vulnerable people affected by the crisis. Bridging the Gap
Over the course of this three-year project, research teams in four countries (Kenya, Sierra Leone, Uganda and Zambia) set out to better understand the relationship between disability and development in each country across four domains (education, health, labour markets and social protection). These countries were chosen as they demonstrate a range of socioeconomic stages of development. All have ratified the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD).

On 26-27 February 2018, the Global Commission for Certification of Poliomyelitis Eradication (GCC) met in Geneva, Switzerland, to review the criteria that will need to be met to achieve global certification of wild poliovirus (WPV) eradication.

In the WHO South-East Asia Region and beyond, more than half the population – women – face what is often egregious discrimination. Discrimination in education and the opportunity to learn to read and write. Discrimination in access to nutrition and the chance to grow healthy and strong. And discrimination in the workplace, where women can be subjected to unwanted advances or have their work undervalued or unpaid.
