Le ministère de la Santé va fournir à la population près d’un million de moustiquaires imprégnées de longue durée d’action (MILDA) à l’occasion d’une campagne contre le paludisme qui se déroulera du 21 au 25 septembre.

Selon Moustapha Mijiyawa, le ministre de la Santé les moustiquaires sont utilisées par 63% de la population. Il veut faire passer ce chiffre à 80.

Toutes les régions du pays sont concernées.

En attendant l’arrivée d’un hypothétique vaccin, les moustiquaires imprégnées restent un moyen efficace de se prémunir contre le palu.

The Togolese Red Cross (TRC) yesterday carried out its second humanitarian distribution in two weeks under forecast-based financing (FbF), as heavy monsoon rain threatened more villages on the Mono river downstream from the Nangbeto dam.

TRC volunteers and staff – including the society’s president – distributed emergency-shelter items for just over 100 households from the village of Togbavi, in Lacs prefecture, in coastal Maritime region.

The families had been driven out of their homes by rising water-levels and set up camp on elevated highways.

Suite à la confirmation de plusieurs cas de fièvre de Lassa au Togo, l’organisation médicale ALIMA (The Alliance For International Medical Action) a fait un don de médicaments et de matériel médical – dont des kits de protection au Ministère de la Santé togolais. « Ces kits permettront au personnel médical de se protéger d’un patient infecté afin de procurer des soins médicaux adaptés en toute sécurité », explique Mélanie Tarabbo, coordinatrice médicale pour ALIMA.

LOME/DAKAR, April 25, 2017 - Following the confirmation of several cases of Lassa fever in Togo, the medical organization ALIMA (The Alliance for International Medical Action) donated medicines and medical equipment, including personal protection kits, to the Togolese Ministry of Health. "These kits will allow medical personnel to protect themselves from an infected patient, in order to provide safe and appropriate medical care," said Mélanie Tarabbo, medical coordinator for ALIMA.

Suite à la confirmation de plusieurs cas de fièvre de Lassa au Togo, une équipe d’ALIMA (The Alliance For International Medical Action) mène actuellement une évaluation des besoins dans les structures médicales et au sein de la population dans la Région des savanes au nord du pays.

Selon le Ministère de la santé togolais, depuis le 25 février, au moins 7 cas confirmés et 4 décès ont été rapportés. Plusieurs dizaines de contacts sont actuellement suivis par les autorités sanitaires.

Following confirmation of several cases of Lassa fever in Togo, a team from ALIMA (The Alliance for International Medical Action) is currently conducting a needs assessment of the health structures and local population in Togo’s Savannah region, in the north of the country.

According to the Togolese Ministry of Health, since February 25, at least seven cases have been confirmed and four deaths were reported. Dozens of contacts are currently being monitored.

An outbreak of Lassa fever that poses a risk to nearly a million people in northern Togo has become the focus of the 100th crisis response financed by the Start Fund.

Schoolchildren will play a key role in a project run by Plan International which aims to raise people’s awareness of the potentially deadly virus and encourage them to react quickly to the appearance of its symptoms. They will be taught what to look out for and precautions that can prevent the disease spreading, and urged to share the knowledge with their families and communities.

Since 1 January 2017, 201 suspected cases of meningitis with 17 deaths were reported by 19 health districts. In week 2, the district of Akebou which is part of the Plateau Region issued an alert after four cases of meningitis were reported. In week 4, the epidemic threshold was reached with nine cases and an attack rate of 12.4 per 100 000 inhabitants. From 2 January to 12 February 2017, 48 suspected meningitis cases with three deaths were reported (case fatality rate of 6.3%). Of these, 14 specimens were confirmed as Neisseria meningitidis serogroup W by PCR.

L’épidémie de méningite survenue en janvier dernier a touché 1.820 personnes et causé 123 décès. Trois régions ont été touchées particulièrement touchées, la Kara, Centrale et Savanes. Des chiffres communiqués mercredi en conseil des ministres.

Le Togo fait partie de la ceinture de méningite, bande de terre allant de l’Atlantique à la Mer Rouge et comportant vingt-six (26) pays. La population à risque est estimée à 430 millions d’habitants.

L’Allemagne a accordé jeudi une aide de 60 millions d’euros au Togo pour la période 2016-2017.

L’accord a été signé à Berlin entre le ministre des Affaires étrangères Robert Dussey et le ministre allemand de la Coopération Gerd Müller en présence du président Faure Gnassingbé actuellement en visite officielle dans le pays.

Cet appui vient s’ajouter à la contribution allemande au budget européen en faveur du Togo qui représente 20% du XIe FED.

This Operations Update requests an extension of time frame of one month (New end date: 30 June 2016) to enable the completion of the lessons learnt workshop, which will be used to enable the documentation of good practices, challenges and recommendations for future response in Togo and by other National Societies in the Africa Region. The DREF operation will end on 30 June 2016, and a final report will be made available on 30 September 2016 (three months after the end of the DREF operation).
