Over 162,000 Quintals of Food Aid Dispatched to Somali Region
The Estonian Foreign Ministry is supporting the needy in Myanmar with 500,000 kroons, donated through the World Food Program (WFP).
According to Foreign Minister Urmas Paet, the humanitarian crisis and the blatant violation of human rights in Myranmar are very alarming. "According to UN data, one third of the nation's residents live below the poverty line," said Paet. "We hope that our small contribution, made through the WFP, can help to alleviate the situation for those in need," he added.
Winter Aid for 200 IDP families in Northern Iraq
Implementing partner for the IOM IDP programme, Peace Winds Japan (PWJ), has utilized 72,000USD to deliver winter supplies to around 200 IDP families in the northern part of Iraq.
Pledges and contributions
The Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) is pleased to acknowledge the receipt of a new contribution (as of 30 November) made by Chile ($30,000). Meanwhile, Italy pledged an additional $1,393,592 for 2007. OCHA encourages all Member States to turn their pledges into contributions as soon as possible.
During 2007, the CERF Secretariat organized several training workshops in Bangkok, Dakar, Geneva, Nairobi, New York, Panama City, and Rome to improve the use of the Fund.

KABUL, Afghanistan - ISAF and Afghan National Army forces provided medical and veterinarian assistance to the people and animals in Yousef Khel and Kushamond villages, Paktika Province recently.
ISAF's Sharana PRT, the Polish Battle Group, ANA, 203rd ANA Corps and non-governmental organization providers, provided medical supplies, clothing and medical treatment for more than 800 Afghans.
The combined effort gave local doctors and the ANA an opportunity to learn a higher level of medical care and establish a better patient rapport.
The Ministry of Health wishes to update the general public on the Ebola situation in the country. The cumulative total is 144 patients with 37 deaths.
In Bundibugyo District, 9 people are currently admitted, 4 in Kikyo Health Centre and 5 in Bundibugyo Hospital. Of these, 4 new cases have been registered in the last 24 hours, 3 in Bundibugyo Hospital and 1 in Kikyo Health Centre.

The ICRC has begun a distribution of essential items - clothing, blankets, mats, soap and kitchen sets - to over 500 displaced families who have taken refuge in South Kivuafter fleeing the fighting in the neighbouring provinceof North Kivu. The distribution is being carried out together with the Red Cross Society of the Democratic Republic of the Congoin the towns of Chebumba and Kitembo, some 50 km north of Bukavu, the capital of South Kivu. It will be supplemented by food parcels delivered by the World Food Programme.

On the third anniversary of the 2004 Tsunami, landslides and floods triggered by torrential rains hit the central island of Java.
At least 120 people have been reported dead or missing, with thousands left homeless after their houses were submerged by floods or buried by landslides. Villages near the Bengawan Solo River in Java suffered the brunt of the floods, with the overflowing river sweeping away houses, bridges and possessions.
Luanda, 12/27 - A tuberculosis expert in Cazenga district, Luanda province, has advised local residents to take care of their diet with a view to reducing cases of tuberculosis.

It was no surprise when, Nur, a mother of a toddler, expressed hesitance about bringing her child to the revived health posts - called posyandu - in her community in Nagan Raya. The Commander of the Security Forces, Jaffna , Major General G.A.Chandrasiri organized and conducted a medical clinic consisting of an Army Medical Corps team for civilians in the 511 Brigade area on Sunday (23) December 2007.These civilians were residents from the villages of Neerveli, Karandan and Kopay, in Jaffna.
The Medical clinic held in the Neerveli Athiyar Hindu Vidyalaya was well attended with over 300 patients seeking medical attention. Army doctors and staff not only attended on the patients but also provided the required drugs and other medical requirements.
