BISHKEK/JALAL-ABAD, Kyrgyzstan, 12 April 2017 – To improve child and mother survival, UNICEF and the Ministry of Health continue the implementation of the project “For Advancing Peace through Enhanced Maternal and Child Healthcare in Conflict-prone Regions” funded by the Government of Japan.
Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, on 25 June 2012 at 10 a.m. - The official handover of cold chain equipment for vaccines from Japan to Kyrgyzstan will take place in the Ministry of Health’s Republican Immunisation Centre of specialised cold chain equipment. This transfer is being made in the framework of the “Vaccine independence in the Kyrgyz Republic” project of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and UNICEF.
The Department of State and USAID have released a Joint Summary of Performance and Financial Information for FY 2011 [pdf]. The Summary describes the performance and accomplishments achieved by State and USAID toward the highest U.S. diplomatic and development objectives. The Summary provides information on both agencies’ financial and performance results with the goal of promoting greater accountability and transparency to Congress, the American public, and other key constituents.

I am very pleased to report that International Relief Teams just completed its 23rd year of service to victims of disaster, poverty, and neglect by providing more than $32 million in medicines, supplies and volunteer services to thousands in need both here and abroad.
In disasters and crises throughout the world, people often struggle with how to cope with what they experienced. For first-responders, there is a similar struggle: how to reach out and support those who are suffering.
