Essalud envió cuatro carpas de Hospitales Perú, así como cuatro médicos y tres enfermeras al distrito de Marcona, región Ica, para atender a las familias afectadas por las lluvias registradas los últimos días, señaló hoy el Centro de Operaciones de Emergencia Nacional (COEN).

Para este lunes 15 está prevista la llegada de cuatro médicos y cuatro enfermeras más, además de un contenedor con medicinas y equipo de auxilio.

SITUATION OVERVIEW

At around 6:00 AM on 20 September 2018, a massive landslide affected an estimated 80.12-hectare area in Sitio Sindulan, Brgy. Tinaan in Naga City, Cebu. Disaster managers said the rains may have contributed in softening the ground soil causing the sloped land to collapse. However, some residents have also pointed on the ongoing quarrying operations in the area.

• On the 27th of September the Health Minister inaugurated the extension of Cox’s Bazar District Hospital Special Care New-born Unit (SCANU) supported by UNICEF. The unit expanded from 24 to 65 beds. In 2018, a total of 2,258 sick new-born were treated in the three UNICEF-supported facilities in host communities.

• In East Jebel Marra, over 380 people affected by a landslide receive assistance.

• UNMAS to focus on demining activities in South Kordofan and Blue Nile states, the most landmine-contaminated states in Sudan.

• South Sudanese refugees are ready to return to South Sudan if they see a change in the situation on the ground and feel a strong commitment to peace by all parties.

The Very Severe Cyclonic Storm 'TITLI' crossed north Andhra Pradesh south Odisha coast near 18.80 N and 84.50 E (near Palasa, Srikakulam district) to the southwest of Gopalpur, as a very severe cyclonic storm with estimated maximum sustained surface wind speed of 140-150 kmph gusting to 165 kmph between 0430 and 0530 hours IST of today, the 11th October 2018. Gopalpur recorded 126 kmph wind speed at 0430 hrs IST of 11th October.

Highlights

  • At mid-year, Ethiopia was faced with an unprecedented caseload of 2.6 million internally displaced persons (IDPs) affected by conflict and drought, mainly along the Oromia regional border with Somali and the Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples’ Region (SNNPR) with children constituting more than half of the displaced population. In line with these changes, UNICEF has revised its Humanitarian Action for Children (HAC) for 2018 and raised the resource envelope to US$ 123.8 million.

Con la finalidad de ayudar a las personas que fueron trasladadas a albergues luego de las fuertes lluvias que afectaron el territorio nacional, paramédicos la Policía Nacional Civil (PNC), brindaron medicamentos a los afectados.

Una agente paramédica le dio explicación sobre cuál es el procedimiento para aplicarse el medicamento entregado a los damnificados .

Las familias afectadas son de las aldeas, Los Cerritos y El Aguacate de Chiquimulilla Santa Rosa, que se encuentran en lugares seguros brindados por la Coordinadora Nacional para la Reducción en Desastres (CONRED).

Following heavy rains that began in August, Nigeria’s two main rivers, the Niger and the Benue, burst their banks, leaving the country exposed to large-scale floods ever since. A state of national disaster has been declared in the four most-affected states of Kogi, Niger, Anambra and Delta. The Government of Nigeria announced that to date, some 200 people have died, a further 1,310 injured, and some two million people have been directly affected.
