The Australian Government will provide humanitarian support for communities affected by volcanic activity in Bali, Indonesia.

Indonesian authorities have established an exclusion zone around Mt Agung, and have evacuated at least 70,000 local residents.

The Government is contributing $600,000 to help meet the needs of 17,000 people who have been displaced from their homes, including the provision of clean drinking water, shelter, sanitation services and medical care. This assistance will also support farmers and workers who have lost their livelihoods.

Durant cette quinzaine, 7 cas confirmés de salmonellose ont été déclarés au Bureau de veille sanitaire (BVS) dont 2 épisodes de TIAC.

L’une de ces TIAC a eu lieu à Taravao avec 2 cas confirmés et 2 cas suspects. Durant cet épisode, un homme de 65 ans est décédé. Cf. communiqué de presse de la Direction de la santé du 29 novembre 2017.

Years of insecurity and upheaval have had a “staggering impact on children”, threatening an entire generation, the report, Childhood under Attack, says.

BEIRUT, Dec 13 (Thomson Reuters Foundation) - Yemen, ravaged by war, hunger and disease, is seeing a spike in diphtheria cases that will inevitably erupt into a larger, deadly outbreak because so few people have been immunized, aid officials said on Wednesday.

At highest risk are children, who account for many of the more than 280 suspected diphtheria cases and 33 associated deaths reported as of Tuesday, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).
