17 octobre 2017 – Les récentes violences meurtrières qui ont touché la ville de Kembé, au sud-est de la République centrafricaine, ont « des implications sur le plan humanitaire », selon un rapport du Bureau des Nations Unies pour la coordination des affaires humanitaires (OCHA).

C'est dans ce contexte que la Coordonnatrice de l'action humanitaire dans ce pays, Najat Rochdi, s'est rendue lundi à Berne, en Suisse, car l'ONU manque de moyens financiers pour répondre aux besoins humanitaires.

BACKGROUND

Between 17 September and 6 October 2017, fighting between rival armed groups in the Libyan city of Sabratha led to the rapid displacement of 2,350 host community households (11,350 individuals) to surrounding cities and towns. Though active hostilities in Sabratha have subsided and many internally displaced persons (IDPs) have opted to return, the atmosphere remains tense, and others have chosen to remain temporarily in their areas of displacement as they assess the situation.

(Baghdad, 17 October 2017): In the past 48 hours, an estimated 61,200 people have been displaced in areas around Kirkuk. Humanitarian partners have dispatched mobile health clinics and are providing hot meals and food parcels to families who have fled. In coming days, partners will be providing 3,000 emergency food rations and hygiene items to families sheltering in public spaces.

MOGADISHU — The Somali government said search and rescue operations have ended, three days after a massive explosion killed hundreds of people at a busy intersection in Mogadishu.

Official casualty figures stand at 281 dead and more than 300 wounded, but the death toll could still rise, Information Minister Abdurrahman Omar Osman said Tuesday.

"The number can increase because there may be other victims either taken by their relatives who later died or others who died from their wounds," he told VOA's Somali service.

Mogadishu, 17 October 2017 - The Kenyan Government has donated an assortment of medical supplies to the Federal Government of Somalia to help treat victims of the recent bomb attack by Al-Shabaab militants.

The medical supplies, airlifted from Kenya, were handed over to the Federal Minister of Health and Social Services, Fawziya Abikar, by the Kenyan Ambassador to Somalia, Retired Maj. Gen. Lucas Tumbo. Also present to receive the consignment was the Mayor of Mogadishu, Thabit Abdi Mohamed.
