  • More than 45% of patients unsuccessful in obtaining security permits from Israeli authorities: Of 2,017 patient applications for a permit to exit Gaza through Erez checkpoint for hospital appointments in October 2017, 55% were approved; 2% were denied including three children and two elderly patients; and 43% were pending and lost their hospital appointments including 164 children and 82 elderly.

Oruchinga settlement, opened as a transit center in 1959 and was officially established as a settlement in 1961, hosts more than 6,900 refugees from Burundi, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Rwanda. The settlement is not receiving new arrivals, aside from family reunifications, referrals, and protection cases. Although shelter and infrastructure are developed, and the refugees seem to be well integrated with the host community, protection concerns and conflict over land and resources remain a challenge.

• The situation in eastern Ukraine remained tense. The overall number of ceasefire violations decreased, but remained critically high, with an average of 1722 ceasefire violations reported per month.

This report provides an overview of the movements of internally displaced persons (IDPs) since 2013. 187,626 IDPs in 42,416 households were identified. 69% of IDPs were displaced as a result of natural disasters, while 31% were displaced because of the socio-political situation. Most (46%) IDPs were displaced in 2015, while 29% were displaced in 2016 and 19% in 2017. 54% of IDPs live with host families, while 24% lived in rented homes. 4% of IDPs live in IDP camps and collective sites. 55% of IDPs are women, while 45% are men.

La situation humanitaire continue de se dégrader dramatiquement dans la province du Tanganyika, dans le sud-est de la République démocratique du Congo (RDC). Depuis le début de la crise il y a un an, plus de 650 000 personnes ont été contraintes de fuir les violents affrontements entre communautés Batwa et Bantous, selon l'Organisation des Nations-unies (ONU). Des milliers de familles, loin de leurs villages et de leurs moyens traditionnels de subsistance, se retrouvent exposées à une pénurie alimentaire de plus en plus critique.

Contexte de la région

Crée par la loi N°2012-018 du 15 février 2012, la région de Taoudénit est située au nord de celle de Tombouctou. La nouvelle région a pris forme officiellement en février 2016.

La mise en place des autorités du collège transitoire date d’avril 2017. La région compte (06) cercles : Foum Elba, Taoudénit, Boujbeha, Arawane, Achourat et Al-Ourche. Les services étatiques sont basés dans la ville de Tombouctou du fait de la situation sécuritaire de la région et aussi à cause du manque d’infrastructures.

UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, welcomes the additional contribution of 34.5 million euros for 2017 and four million euros for 2018 from the Federal Republic of Germany to provide assistance to displaced Iraqis. This brings the total amount received from Germany for this contribution for the period 2015-2018 to a total of 90.5 million euros.
