Military operations to retake Hawija district and surrounding areas, which began on 21 September, have to date displaced more than 2,400 individuals from Hawija, Kirkuk governorate and Shirqat, Salah al-Din governorate. The majority displaced to Ninewa governorate, including 1,700 individuals bussed by Iraqi authorities to IOM’s Haj Ali emergency site 60 km south of Mosul.
Most of these recently displaced people arrived to a secure area after fleeing their towns and villages, many walking five to 10 hours through desert lands, leaving them dehydrated and exhausted.
The National Strategy on Myanmar Refugees and Undocumented Myanmar Nationals (UMN) formulated by the Government of Bangladesh highlights the fact that more than 300,000 Rohingyas have crossed the border and are living in Bangladesh. Following an outbreak of violence on 9 October 2016 in the Rakhine State of Myanmar, approximately 80,000 undocumented Myanmar nationals (UMNs) fled to Bangladesh.

During the week of September 5- September 9, category 5 Hurricane Irma caused destruction on multiple Caribbean islands. St. Martin/St. Maarten, Antigua and Barbuda, and Turks and Caicos experienced heavy wind and rain damage. After Hurricane Irma, Hurricane Maria moved through the Caribbean causing damage to islands such as Dominica and Puerto Rico. St. Martin/St. Maarten, and Antigua and Barbuda experienced less damage from Hurricane Maria due to the storm’s southward position.

SYNOPSIS OF HURRICANE MARIA
Maria, the 13th named hurricane of the 2017 Atlantic Hurricane Season, became a category 5 hurricane near the Leeward Islands on Monday September 18 th, 2017. Hurricane Maria impacted Dominica at approximately 9:35pm on September 18 th as an extremely strong hurricane with wind speeds of 155 mph.
Maria then impacted St. Kitts and Nevis and Antigua and Barbuda on September 19th, 2017 and the Virgin Islands September 19 – 20, 2017.
DHAKA, Bangladesh, 24 September 2017 - A consignment of UNICEF emergency supplies for hundreds of thousands of refugee Rohingya children and their families has arrived in the Bangladeshi capital, Dhaka.
The cargo plane arrived from Copenhagen with 100 tons of supplies comprising water purifying tablets, family hygiene kits, sanitary materials, plastic tarpaulins, recreational kits for children and other items.

KUTUPALONG REFUGEE CAMP – Clutching an empty rice sack, Rohingya mother-of-seven Sara Khatun says she has nothing left to feed her children.
After three weeks sleeping under a thin plastic sheet held up by bamboo poles, her son and daughter, aged about eight and 10, look pinched and exhausted.
“If they don’t get help soon, they will die.”
The powerful earthquake that rocked Mexico Saturday killed at least two people, triggering new alarms in a country struggling to recover from two recent quakes that killed a total of about 400 people.
The U.S. Geological Survey said the new quake had a magnitude of 6.1 and was centered in the southern state of Oaxaca, about 360 kilometers southeast of the capital, which is still reeling from Tuesday's 7.1 quake that killed at least 300 people.
Officials said Saturday's quake was felt in Mexico City, swaying buildings in the capital.
