September 23rd, 2017 ― Doha: Qatar Red Crescent Society's (QRCS) mission in Yemen has provided medical equipment and consumables to health facilities in four Yemeni governorates.
Under a multi-sector humanitarian programme, the $95,238 worth of medical supplies are estimated to serve more than 83,000 patients visiting five health centers in Taiz, Sana'a, Ibb, and Al-Hudaydah.
These include ultrasound devices, blood pressure monitors, medical microscope, blood test machines, test tubes, delivery room equipment, waiting room seats, and other medical aid.

DERA MURAD JAMALI: A 12-year-old boy was killed in a landmine blast in the Sangsilla area of Dera Bugti district on Saturday.
The landmine was planted along the road by suspected militants, Levies officials said. It went off after the boy stepped on it.
The boy suffered critical wounds in the blast and died on the spot, the officials said.
His body was shifted to the district hospital and later handed over to his family. The boy’s name could not be immediately ascertained.

The storms’ deadly and destructive impact has been felt in Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, the Bahamas, Cuba, Dominica, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Mexico, Puerto Rico, St Martin and the Turks and Caicos.
A new project for rain water harvesting has been initiated in the Jaffna Peninsula as a solution to the severe shortage of water.
Accordingly, it has been planned to save 20 percent of the rain water in an area of 78 square kilometers around the Vadamarachchi lagoon.
The project has got the approval of the Chief Minister of Northern province as well as the cabinet and is being headed by a retired Secretary of the Irrigation Ministry and a retired Director of the Irrigation Department Vidyajothi Eng. A.D. S. Gunawardena.
Recent torrential rain in Chin State caused landslides in Chin State, damaging roads and several houses, according to local authorities.
People were also evacuated from areas which are threatened landslides in Haka and Hpalam while a total of 13 houses were removed from the areas.
The landslides happened on the Kale-Thaingngin Road and on Haka-Gangaw Road also blocked the roads temporarily.
Traffic on the roads returned to normal after local authorities and volunteers cleared the road.

Nearly three thousand tri forces and civil defence personnel will be deployed for the country wide dengue prevention week being carried out from the 20th to 26th September, Ministry of Defence said.
The National Mosquito Eradication Week is being implemented by the Dengue Control Unit of the Health Ministry and the Presidential Task Force on Dengue Control.

The Government of Bangladesh reaffirmed its commitment to fully implement the Chittagong Hill Tract Peace Accord, 1997, by inaugurating a new project “Strengthening Inclusive Development in the Chittagong Hill Tracts (SID-CHT)” that will be implemented with support from United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in partnership with USAID and Danida. The new development project that will be implemented in the next five years is focusing on sustainable and inclusive development of the Chittagong Hill Tracts.
NEW YORK, 22 September 2017- The Secretariats of ASEAN and the United Nations, acknowledged the strong cooperation and collaboration between both organizations at their annual meeting held at the UN Headquarters yesterday.
This annual Secretariat-to-Secretariat Meeting was established in March 2011 as a formal mechanism to consolidate and strengthen ASEAN-UN relations, review projects and activities and decide on new areas of cooperation and collaboration.
