In September 2015, the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda was adopted, and for the first time, migration was included in mainstream global development policy. With the objective of communicating how IOM identifies migration in the 2030 Agenda to stakeholders and the wider public, and to shed light on the complex challenges and opportunities that accompany the migration-related targets, this IOM publication aims to showcase how different areas of migration are addressed in the Sustainable Development Goals.

The UN Asia-Pacific Regional Cooperation Mechanism Thematic Working Group (TWG) on International Migration including Human Trafficking has launched the 2012 Situation Report on International Migration in South and South-West Asia in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

The multi-agency report stresses the importance of coherent migration policies and increasing collaboration among countries of origin, transit and destination in South and South-West Asia.

Joint Report Highlights Development Potential of Migration in Thailand, Warns of Policy Shortfall

Thailand - Migration is contributing to growth, development and stability in Thailand, but to harness its full potential, the South East Asian nation must introduce comprehensive and long term migration policies, according to a joint report launched today.

The Thailand Migration Report 2011 says that despite efforts to control irregular migration, large numbers of irregular migrant workers from neighbouring countries continue to arrive and work in Thailand.
