Foreword

For most of us, a safe and secure home is at the centre of our lives. It is the place where we eat, sleep, study, raise a family, socialize and take sanctuary. For many people, it is also their most significant financial asset. We work all our lives for it, and continuously invest time, money and energy to improve it.

70 YEARS AND COUNTING

Seven decades ago, the world was recovering from a devastating world war. For millions of child survivors of that war, peace still encompassed a landscape of significant challenges and damaged futures. UNICEF was created to help those children – no matter who they were, no matter where they were from. The only thing that mattered for the nascent organization was achieving results for children in need.

Yemen: The 9 August Al Jawf ceasefire has been broken. Access to people affected by the conflict in Al Jawf is extremely limited due to persistent insecurity, and it is very difficult to obtain information. Almost 3,000 people have died in violence since the National Dialogue Conference took place on 25 January.
