29 June 2017, JUBA — A wide-ranging coalition of policy makers, political leaders, and development partners held a two-day interactive conference in Juba, South Sudan designed to generate ideas and concrete action points to protect and help vulnerable communities to adapt against the negative effects of climate change.
Juba, 15 June 2015 - On 15 June 2015, UNEP was part of the launch ceremony of the “Keep Juba Clean” campaign. The campaign, which is a month long event, is part of the preparations for celebration of 4th Anniversary of the independence of the Republic of South Sudan on 9th July 2015. First organized by UNEP in 2009, Keep Juba Clean campaigns help to raise awareness of sound waste management practices. These campaigns are well aligned with UNEP’s waste management programme for South Sudan.
NYAL (UNITY STATE), 3 March 2014 (IRIN) - In the vast swamplands of South Sudan's Sudd region, tens of thousands of recently displaced people (IDPs) are living with little food and no sanitation facilities on inaccessible islands, according to local officials. They fled after attackers, allegedly from Rumbek (Lakes State in central South Sudan), swarmed across the county burning houses and raiding cattle on 7 February.
