Peru is a country with varying climate – from the subtropical coastal region, to the cool climate of the Andes and eastern lowlands of the equatorial Amazon. Peru has had one of the region’s fastest growing economies, which has resulted in a significant reduction in poverty rates [World Bank, 2015]. Recent advancements, though, could be threatened by the impacts of climate change, including reduced water availability, risk of coastal and inland river flooding, heat stress and changing patterns of climate sensitive diseases such as malaria and dengue fever.
