BEIJING, May 18 (Xinhua) -- A new monitoring and early warning platform of algae blooms and lake flooding of Taihu Lake, one of the largest freshwater lakes in east China's Jiangsu Province, has started its test run, according to the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).
The platform, jointly developed by the Nanjing Institute of Geography & Limnology of CAS and Image Sky, aims to automatically conduct water environment prediction of Taihu Lake with high accuracy and wide coverage.
BEIJING, May 22 (Xinhua) -- China will coordinate with countries from Asia and Oceania to conduct satellite remote sensing observation along the Mekong River, according to the website of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).
The first international conference of the Asia-Oceania Global Earth Observation System of Systems (AOGEOSS) Initiative concluded on May 18 in Deqing in east China's Zhejiang Province. The Deqing Action Plan was passed during the conference to carry out remote sensing observation in regions along the river.
BEIJING, March 19 (Xinhua) -- China's oceanic authority on Monday called for measures to cope with rising sea levels.
A report released by the State Oceanic Administration (SOA) said that the average sea level along China's coast in 2017 was 58 mm higher than the average level between 1993 and 2011.
In the past six years, the sea level along China's coast had remained at a high level compared with the pervious 24 years.
