SPREP launches 2013 Annual Report

The Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) is pleased to advise that the 2013 SPREP Annual Report is now available online. In 2013 SPREP celebrated the 20th anniversary of the signing of the SPREP Treaty, which established the Secretariat as an autonomous body.

Mr David Sheppard, Director General of SPREP explains that there was a lot to celebrate during this anniversary year:

The Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC) collaborated with the Union of Pacific French Speaking Women (UFFO) to organise UFFO’s annual regional workshop from 14 to 17 July 2014 at the University of California, Berkeley’s Gump Research Station in Mo’orea, French Polynesia. Over 40 non-governmental organisations from New Caledonia, French Polynesia, Vanuatu and Wallis and Futuna are members of UFFO.

Climate Change in the Pacific receives more funding from donors than food security, according to a regional government official.

The Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC)’s Food Security Technical officer, Gibson Susumu said there is a need for climate change and food security to be given same priority in terms of funding.
