• The Government of Turkey has called for a second international assistance in the form of winterized tents and prefabricated houses to respond to the earthquake which occurred in Van on November 9, 2011.

• Two earthquakes shook Van on November 9, 2011. First one took place at 21:30 at 5.6 magnitude and seven minutes later another tremor with a magnitude of 4.5 hit Van.

• The death toll as a consequence of the November 9 earthquake in Van Province has remained at 40 and number of people rescued under the rubble has amounted to 30.

• The death toll as a consequence of the October 23 earthquake in Van Province has remained at 601 and 4,152 injured.

• Relief assistance for Van continues increasing by the day and there are currently three distribution points in the city. Life in Van is returning to normal with more shops open and markets operating normally.

• The national aid campaign launched by the Government has collected to date a total of $63.440.860,00 including $50 million donated by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

• The death toll as a consequence of the October 23 earthquake in Van Province has risen to 601 and the number of injured amounted to 4,152. The total number of people rescued under the rubble has amounted to 188.

• Search and rescue (SAR) operations were completed in Van central district on 30 October, but operations continued in two collapsed buildings in Erciş district.

• The national aid campaign launched by the Government has collected to date a total of US$ 13.920.454,00

• The number of dead has risen to 573 and the number of injured to 2,608. The number of people rescued is 187. The Government’s search and rescue efforts continued unabated.

• Prompt action is taken by OCHA, UNHCR, UNFPA and IOM to provide tents requested by the Government and other relief items to the Turkish Red Crescent Society.

• The National Government has allocated 13 million TL to the Van Provincial Government as emergency aid allowance.

• A total of 19,000,000 TL has been collected through aid campaigns.
