The state government of Andhra Pradesh withdrew their warning about fishing in the sea. The fishermen who were restless to get back to work, gathered at 4 am this morning, as they would on any day. 120 of them from the villages of Thippalavalsa, Thammayyapalam and Barripeta of Vizianagaram district, marched into the sea in 30 boats that were repaired in the last two days. Their families await their return late tomorrow afternoon with their first catch after Black Sunday.

Medical Help for 2,000 people of Tamil Nadu
Project Status: Completed. Additional need for resources
Latest Update: Help reached over 2,000 people on Dec 30 and 31, 2004. People were treated for vomitting, diarrohea, fever and headache in medical camps between Mahabalipuram and Kalpakkam. They were also given medicines for 2-3 days. Some people were given IV fluids. The doctors also treated those who had sustained injuries. Camps are still being conducted and are likely to go on till end of this week. The organisation has requested funds for a few more camps.
Amar Seva Sangam
Situation: Worst affected areas are Cuddalore, Nagapattanam and Coastal areas of Chennai.In Nagapattinam, 5 to 6 villages in the distance of 20 to 30 km are totally damaged.
Jeevan - Tamil Nadu
Situation: There is a fear of outbreak of serious diseases.
- Safe drinking water 30,000 bottles per day at 5 per bottle Rs. 150,000.
- 10,000 pieces of Banians and T shirts at 30 per piece Rs. 300,000.

Hindu Mission Hospital- Tamil Nadu
Situation: Coastal areas of Kanchipuram district are affected. Their medical camp in a coastal village about 20 kms from Chennai was affected. The organisation lost Rs1 lac of equipments and a doctor has been admitted to ICU. Their medical team has gone to a town near Mahabalipuram of 2 lacs population, where about 10,000 people are injured. Main affected people in Chennai are fishermen.
Immediate Need: Clothes (blankets, bedsheets, towels, sarees, t-shirts, dhotis, Bermudas, nighties etc.), and medicine.
