All Hands Volunteers launched a Peru Flood Response program on March 29th after receiving reports of widespread damage and need for assistance. Over 950,000 people have been impacted by this devastating flooding, with 101 lives lost.

Fonds-des-Blancs, Haiti – All Hands Volunteers reports that its DART team has arrived in Fonds-des-Blancs, Haiti, where the team is coordinating with the St. Boniface Hospital and hospital foundation to provide immediate assistance in the region served by the hospital. Initial work is expected to include delivery of medical supplies and necessities, as well as clearing mud and wreckage from the clinics operated by the hospital along the southern coast between Le Cayes and Aquin.

What All Hands Volunteers has accomplished in Nepal over the past 6 months:

  • Completed 16 Temporary Learning Centers, 11 canvas classrooms. Over 1820 children have entered safe learning environments as a result of our work

  • Ongoing demolition program: 13 unsafe homes & 34 classrooms demolished to date; safe demolition manual created and shared with INGOs

  • Ongoing debris clearing: over 175 homes and 12 schools cleared

1 Introduction

All Hands Volunteers, Project Nepal (AHV) is assisting the affected populations of the April 25, 2015 Nepal Earthquake and its significant aftershocks. Their program largely consists of three projects:

  1. Safe demolition of structurally unsound buildings

  2. Clearance of debris and salvage of reusable building materials

  3. Construction of Temporary Learning Centers and temporary housing.

April 27, 2015 (Boston, MA) -- Later today, All Hands Volunteer’s Deputy Director of International Assessments, Gary Pitts, will be on the ground in Kathmandu to conduct an initial ground assessment for the All Hands Disaster Assessment and Response Team (DART.)

Once it is clear that their presence will not impede ongoing search and rescue work – estimated to be the end of the week – the full DART group will travel to affected areas to undertake a formal assessment and coordinate with local communities and international agencies.
