Addis Ababa, 12 June 2018: The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, commends the Government of Spain for giving safe harbour to over 600 migrants, including women and children, who were stranded in the Mediterranean Sea since Sunday 10 June 2018.
The Peace and Security Council (PSC) of the African Union (AU), at its 778th meeting held on 11 June 2018, considered the Special Report of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission and the Secretary-General of the United Nations on the Strategic Review of the African Union-United Nations Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID) S/2018/530 of 1 June 2018 and the renewal of the UNAMID mandate and adopted the following decision:

Addis Ababa, 4 June 2018: The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, met, yesterday, with the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Leonard She Okitundu. The meeting focused on the situation in the country and ongoing efforts to organise elections at the end of the year.
The Peace and Security Council (PSC) of the African Union (AU), at its 773rd meeting held on 18 May 2018, considered a report on its field mission to Sudan (Khartoum and Darfur), which took place from 5 to 9 May 2018, and adopted the following decision:
Notes with satisfaction the improved political and security environment in Darfur and commends the Government of Sudan and the African Union United Nations Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID) for the great efforts deployed to ensure security, stability and development for the people of Darfur.

Il souhaite un prompt rétablissement à ceux qui ont été blessés lors de ces incidents.

Addis Ababa, 01 June 2018- After recruiting and training 18 Congolese volunteers, Arica CDC has just deployed them to Equator province to support the response to Ebola Virus Disease in DR Congo.
The responders, who are former volunteers of the African Union Support to the Ebola Outbreak in West Africa (ASEOWA) in the 2014-16 outbreak, they also participated in the post-Ebola enhanced surveillance in the Democratic Republic of Congo in July 2017 in the province of Bas-Uélé.
Addis Ababa, 26 May 2018: The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, today received from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Rwanda, Louise Mushikiwabo, the instruments of ratification of the Agreement on the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and the Protocol on Free Movement of Persons and the African Passport. Rwanda is the third member state to ratify the AfCFTA, after Ghana and Kenya, and the first to do so as far as the Protocol on Free Movement of Persons and the African Passport is concerned.

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, May 22, 2018: The Consultation and Experience Sharing Workshop between the Sahel and the Horn of Africa on Peace-building and the Prevention of Violent Extremism through Education kicked off today at the African Union Headquarters. The workshop is organized by the African Union Commission (AUC) in collaboration with UNESCO-International Institute for Capacity Building in Africa (IICBA).
