Fire and rescue divisions of the Russian Emergency Ministry keep on helping people whose houses are located in flooded areas. Those who have refused to go to temporary shelters are provided with foodstuffs, essentials and medicines. Livestock, pets and birds are being evacuated.

Managing bodies and forces of the Emergency Ministry’s Volgograd Region Directorate are working under the state of emergency. As of 7 April, 61 people, including 27 children, are staying at temporary shelters. Water has been pumped out of 19 houses and debris has been removed from 47 yards.

71 settlements, 803 houses, 3,502 farmlands, 29 low-level bridges and 8 sections of motorways remain flooded.

370 people have been relocated, with 56 of them staying at temporary shelters, while the rest preferred leaving for relatives and friends.

Normal functioning of the society is not disturbed: there are bypasses and all the settlements are within reach of firefighters.

Social, medical and other services are working at temporary shelters, people there are provided with hot meals, including baby food, bottled water, essentials and means of communication.

Vehicles of the 75th humanitarian convoy of the Russian Emergencies Ministry have arrived to their destination. Currently, the cargo is being unloaded in Donetsk and Luhansk Regions. Upon unloading, all relief goods will be distributed by corresponding organizations to social facilities of Donetsk and Luhansk Regions and among the population.

All vehicles underwent inspection by customs agencies and border services.

Vehicles will return back to the Don Rescue Center through Donetsk and Matveyev Kurgan border checkpoints.

Flood situation is under special control of the Russian Emergencies Ministry. There are positive changes in Altai Territory. Number of flooded houses and years gradually decreases and water has completely drained from 14 settlements.

Russian Emergencies Ministry’s task groups are working in cooperation with local governments and provide aid to the affected.

Spring flood progresses in accordance with the forecast. Water level has risen in rivers of Altai, Tyva, Khakassia, Rostov Region and Altai Territory due to snowmelt runoffs.

Russian Emergencies Ministry’s task groups are working in cooperation with local governments and provide targeted aid to the affected people.

State of emergency has been declared in Volgograd Region due to flood situation. The Governor of Volgograd Region Andrei Bocharov announced this during the meeting of the working group of the Governmental Disaster Management and Fire Safety Commission, which was headed by the Russian Emergencies Minister Vladimir Puchkov.

“Considering unfavorable weather forecast and second wave of flood it has been decided to declare a state of emergency in Volgograd Region”, said Andrei Bocharov.

The Russian Emergencies Minister Vladimir Puchkov has visited a temporary shelter at Bezymyanka Hamlet, deployed at the local school, during his working trip to Volgograd Region.

Residents of flooded houses live in this shelter. The Minister met with them and they talked about the situation. Many of them, mostly the elderly, suffered a serious damage to their property due to flood.

Vladimir Puchkov assured them that compensations will be paid out to those, who suffered damage to property or lost their homes. Necessary decisions will be taken shortly.

As of today, water level have risen in rivers of Krasnoyarsk Territory, Amur and Rostov Regions due to snowmelt runoff. 13 yards and 3 low-level bridges remain flooded in these regions. There are no flooded houses and businesses. Functioning of the society was not disrupted.

Deputy Minister for Emergency Situations Pavel Baryzhev is checking on preparedness of response divisions to seasonal risks in Far Eastern Federal District. The region is now actively getting ready to flood and wildfire seasons.

In Khabarovsk, Mr. Baryshev has attended a meeting headed by vice chairman of the Russian Government – presidential plenipotentiary in Far Eastern Federal District Yuri Trutnev. The meeting discussed response to the 2013 floods and progress of measures taken to prevent risks of possible floods.

A working group of the Emergency Ministry headed by Deputy Minister Sergei Kadadov has checked readiness of the Stavropol Territory subsystem of the Single State Disaster Management System (SSDMS) to respond during 2018 flood and wildfire seasons.

The Crisis Management Center held a meeting to discuss preparing for spring risks. It was attended by employees of the Emergency Ministry’s Stavropol Territory Directorate and representatives of the local executive authorities.

The Russian Ministry for Emergency Situations has finished building the 74th humanitarian convoy. The trucks loaded with relief supplies will leave the Emergency Ministry’s Don Rescue Center tomorrow and will head to Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine.

The convoy will deliver to people in Donbass more than 430 tons of relief supplies, including baby food and medical items.

The convoy will continue to Donetsk and Matveyev Kurgan checkpoints at the state border to undergo necessary customs procedures under international humanitarian laws.

Russian Minister for Emergency Situations has hosted today a working meeting with David Beasley, Executive Director of the UN World Food Programme (WFP).

During the talks, the officials discussed pressing issues of international humanitarian assistance and closer cooperation for global food security.

Messrs. Puchkov and Beasley noted that cooperation between the Emergency Ministry and WFP has stable positive dynamics and plays a key part in fighting hunger and humanitarian crises all over the world.

The Russian Ministry for Emergency Situations has finished delivering humanitarian supplies to the Philippines.

The last 80-ton cargo of food and saw timber was delivered by sea on the night of 24 January. Two previous cargoes included over 415 tons of supplies.

Humanitarian assistance was provided to the Philippines pursuant to the order of the Russian Government.

Relief supplies were sent from the port of Novorossiysk to Dominica on the night of 14 December following a request of the Commonwealth of Dominica and order of the Russian Government. The vessel is carrying more than 174 tons of food, construction materials, mobile power stations and tents. By the end of the month another 61 tons of humanitarian aid is going to be sent to Dominica.
