President Yoweri Museveni has fulfilled his pledge of Shs.190 million support to 38 families in Usuk County Katakwi District in Teso Sub-Region that lost their relatives at the hands of marauding Karimojong cattle rustlers in 2001 and 2003. Each family got Shs.5 million from the President.
The slain people died in 2 separate attacks on Ngariam Internally Displaced People’s camp in 2001 in which 17 people were killed and in 2003 as the rustlers’ attacked Opeuraudot IDP camp that saw 21 people lose their lives.
Ministry of Health Statement to Parliament on Cholera Outbreak in Kampala City, 9th January 2019
Rt. Hon. Speaker & Members, The Ministry of Health received a report of four suspected cholera cases on 5th January 2019 who had been seen at Kirudu hospital with diarrheal and vomiting which had started on 4th January 2019. These suiweeted cholera cases were from Kaboowa parish, Rubaga division. The health workers in Kirudu hospital im-mediately suspected cholera and gave them appropriate medical care.

On 26th November 2018, an alert case was received at Fort Portal Regional Referral Hospital from Bundibugyo district.
The 38year old male alert case is one of the many alert cases received in different health facilities as a result of the heightened surveillance along all border districts.

2/11/2018. The Ministry of Health would like to inform the public and the entire world that it will conduct compassionate use of the Ebola vaccine (rVSV) for healthcare and frontline workers and ring vaccination in Uganda, starting next week.
In August 2018, Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) outbreak was confirmed in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), currently affecting north-eastern provinces of DRC which border Uganda, Rwanda and South Sudan.
As neighbour to the DRC, Uganda is on high alert due to the high risk of the Ebola threat.
The countrywide verification exercise that started on 1st March 2018 was completed on 24th October 2018. The total population of asylum-seekers and refugees verified was 1,091,024 individuals. This represents 75.5% of the estimated target of 1.4 million registered persons. More detailed results and updated population figures of asylumseekers and refugees in Uganda will be made available soon.

KAMPALA: The Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) and UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency have concluded the countrywide biometric verification exercise of all asylum-seekers and refugees in Uganda.
The exercise was concluded on Wednesday October 24th 2018, in the last two remaining locations – Bidibidi refugee settlement and Kampala.
The ongoing verification of refugees in Uganda that started on 1 st March 2018, verified a total of 17,428 individuals last week bringing the total as of 20th October 2018 to 1,088,415. This represents 75.3% of the estimated target of 1.4 million registered refugees. The highest daily output was 5,374 individuals verified in a single day last week.
- On Thursday 11th October 2018 at about 2.30 pm a landslide combined with floods washed away many people in Bukalasi trading center Bududa District. 43 bodies have been recovered. 21 were injured and admitted in Bukalasi Health Center III. 144 houses were washed away, 13 villages were affected, 858 people displaced and 12,000 people are affected.
The ongoing verification of refugees in Uganda that started on 1 st March 2018, verified a total of 22,204 individuals last week bringing the total as of 13th October 2018 to 1,075,891. This represents 74.5% of the estimated target of 1.4 million registered refugees. The highest daily output was 7,538 individuals verified in a single day last week by three teams. Verification activities were suspended on Tuesday 9th October being a public holiday.
The ongoing verification of refugees in Uganda that started on 1 st March 2018, verified a total of 44,241 individuals last week bringing the total as of 28th September 2018 to 1,019,987. This represents 70.6% of the estimated target of 1.4 million registered refugees. The highest daily output was 10,344 individuals verified in a single day last week.
On Wednesday 26th September, verification by OPM and UNHCR teams crossed the one million mark confirming this exercise as the largest undertaken in the region.
The ongoing verification of refugees in Uganda that started on 1 st March 2018 has verified a total of 49,213 individuals last week bringing the total as of 21st September 2018 to 975,680, representing 67.5% of the estimated target of 1.4 million registered refugees. With four teams still in operation, the highest daily output for the week was 11,611 individuals verified in a single day.

NO CONFIRMED CASE OF EBOLA IN UGANDA
229/2018. The Ministry of Health would like to inform the general public that there is no confirmed case of Ebola in Uganda.
The ongoing verification of refugees in Uganda that started on 1 st March 2018, has verified a total of 26,386 individuals last week bringing the total as of 7th September 2018 to 900,502. This represents 62.3% of the estimated target of 1.4 million registered refugees. The highest daily output was 7,663 individuals verified in a single day last week.
Uganda is one of the highly endemic countries for Hepatitis B, with 52% life time exposure of the population, while 9 out of every 10 people in Uganda do not know their status.
First ever national survey on Violence Against Children in Uganda launched
KAMPALA, 9 AUGUST, 2018 - Three in four young adults in Uganda have experienced some form of violence during their childhood, according to Uganda’s first ever Violence Against Children Survey, launched today by the Government of Uganda and its partners.
With more than 1.2 million refugees, mostly from Burundi, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Rwanda, Somalia and South Sudan, Uganda is one of the top-most refugee hosting countries worldwide. Due to the ongoing crisis in South Sudan, many further refugees currently cross the border to Uganda.
