The Government of Prime Minister Patrick Manning of Trinidad and Tobago has pledged financial assistances to countries affected by the devastating Boxing Day tsunami in the Indian Ocean.

The announcement was made last night after a ministerial meeting which was also attended by representatives of the national disaster management agencies and Secretary General of CARICOM, Dr Edwin Carrington.

The specific amount of aid would be announced after next week's Cabinent meeting, he told member of the media at a news conference last night.
