On the 20th October 2018, a delegation of Humanity First International visited affected areas following the devastating earthquake and tsunami last month. In the week-long visit, the delegation met with the Humanity First Indonesia team on the ground and personally met a number of the disaster victims in Palu.
The delegation comprised of Nasir Amini from Bradford (Humanity First International), Tahir Ahmad from East London (Humanity First International), Najm Khan from Farnborough (Humanity First UK) and Tariq Karim from Griesheim (Humanity First Germany).

After the devastating 7.5 magnitude earthquake hit the Sulawesi Island in Indonesia on the 28th of September 2018, Humanity First Indonesia mobilised its Disaster Relief team who are on the ground in Palu, Central Sulawesi Province, providing much needed support. Humanity First Indonesia are working in close coordination with the authorities.

The 17-member team consisting of Doctors, Homeopaths and Disaster Management Co-ordinators, Volunteers have set up a Base Camp at AMJ centre in Bulupontu village South of Palu.

  • Since 25 August 2017, an estimated 607,000 Rohingya have crossed into Bangladesh fleeing violence in Myanmar’s Rakhine State, increasing the total Rohingya population in Cox’s Bazar to 820,000.

REPORT

• Violence in Rakhine State - which began on 25/08/2017 - has driven an estimated 537,000 Rohingya across the border into Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh creating a critical humanitarian emergency. In some of the refugee sites, there is no access to water and sanitation facilities, raising the risks of an outbreak of disease.
