Basseterre, St. Kitts, April 30, 2016 (SKNIS): The Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) has donated EC $620,000 to the Ministry of Public Infrastructure to help bring relief to consumers impacted by the ongoing drought-like condition.
Basseterre, St. Kitts, April 11, 2016 (SKNIS): Minister of Public Infrastructure, Honourable Ian Patches Liburd, recently stated that his Ministry along with the Ministry of Finance is doing all in its power to help citizens weather out the drought.
The minister stated that Mansion residents, including those living in Phillip’s Village, Molineux and Borryeau, have been greatly affected by the lack of rainfall.
Basseterre, St. Kitts, March 24, 2016 (SKNIS): Minister of Public Infrastructure, Posts, Urban Development and Transport, Honourable Ian Patches Liburd, has revealed that specific measures are being taken to address the drought situation in St. Kitts and Nevis, including several emergency projects.
Minister Liburd who is responsible for the Water Services Department outlined projects specific to Saddlers, Lodge and Cedar Grove.
Basseterre, St. Kitts, January 05, 2016 (SKNIS): Rainfall in December 2015 remained well below the traditional average for the period, and experts are warning residents of St. Kitts and Nevis to continue water conservation practices.
Elmo Burke, Senior Meteorological Officer based at the Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport, reported that 1.89 inches of rainfall was recorded last month, which is about half of the 3.76 inches of rainfall recorded in the same period in 2014.
Basseterre, St. Kitts, December 23, 2015 (SKNIS): Minister of State responsible for Health and Social Development, Honourable Senator Wendy Phipps has revealed that for the first time St. Kitts and Nevis will have a budgetary allocation for health disaster coordination in 2016.
This was revealed by the Senator during her presentation in support of the 2016 Budget debate on December 17, 2015. She said that the budgetary allocation for health disaster coordination is necessary to deal with certain crisis management needs of the Federation.

Basseterre, St. Kitts, September 15, 2015 (SKNIS): A US$5 million deep water drilling project is anticipated to bring some 2 million gallons of water to residents in St. Kitts to assist in alleviating the current water shortage situation.
This was revealed by Honourable Ian ‘Patches’ Liburd, Minister with responsibility for Public Infrastructure, during the sitting of Federal Parliament on Tuesday, September 15. He said this is expected to take place in 2016.

This announcement was made by Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris at the completion of a special session of the St. Kitts and Nevis Cabinet of Ministers which was held on Friday (August 28).

On Tuesday July 14th 2009, the Ministry of Health of St. Kitts and Nevis was notified of the Federation's first confirmed case of Influenza A H1N1 (commonly referred to as swine flu).
This information is the result of a test done on a 26 year old female - a national with no history of recent travel.
The sample was sent to Caribbean Epidemiology Center (CAREC) from the laboratory at the Joseph N.
