1. Advocacy vision and rationale

The nutrition cluster approach was adopted in Yemen in 2009. Since then, Yemen has continued to face complex emergencies with the Nutrition Cluster being constantly active. Following the escalation of the conflict in March 2015, a Level 3 system-wide emergency was declared in Yemen, which is still in place.

Entre Janvier et Avril, 16,854 nouveaux enfants de moins de 5 ans souffrant de malnutrition aiguë sévère ont reçu un traitement selon le protocole national à travers le pays soit 60% de l'objectif du plan de réponse humanitaire de 27,961 enfants. Les indicateurs globaux de performance de la prise en charge de la malnutrition aiguë sévère restent dans les normes avec un taux de guérison de 89,64% (> = 75 pour cent), un taux de décès de 2,12% (<10 pour cent), un taux d’abandon de 6,83% et un taux de non-répondant de 1.41%. La couverture actuelle est de 48%.

Sector’s achievements from January - June 2018, KPI’s and challenges

At the end of the first half of the year, 223,503 children under five have been admitted and treated for severe acute malnutrition (SAM) without medical complications throughout 801 outpatient therapeutic sites that reported across Adamawa Yobe and Borno states. 5,807 children were treated for SAM with medical complications in 26 inpatient stabilisation centres. Management of moderate acute malnutrition reached 16,320 children between 24-59 Months.
