American Jewish World Service plans to respond to the food crisis in Zimbabwe by partnering with local and international NGO's doing both emergency nutrition interventions and long-term planting projects. AJWS is also sending a volunteer to Malawi to assist UNICEF with an assessment of the situation there.
AJWS is deeply saddened by the events in the Middle East and mourns the loss of lives on both sides of the conflict. We join the Jewish Community and the world at large in the call for peace and pray for an immediate negotiated resolution to the crisis. This can only be achieved by political leaders from both sides, with active assistance from the United States and support from the other international partners.
American Jewish World Service is raising funds for the victims of the series of earthquakes that devastated the Nahrin district of Afghanistan. AJWS has been working on the ground in Afghanistan for two years and will be responding directly to the victims' immediate needs of food as asistance, temporary shelter, and other non-food items.
