The Syrian Arab Red Crescent in cooperation with the British Red Cross held a training workshop about the Geographic Information System on 30/11- 3/12/2018.

The workshop brought together 33 coordinators, who work in the central operation management, the disaster management unit and field coordinators all over SARC’ branches.

The Syrian Arab Red Crescent enters a humanitarian aid convoy to four new villages in the Eastern rural of Daraa, the convoy consists of 17 truck holding food introduction presented by the WFP. The aid Included 5500 food parcels will benefit 5500 family, and the work in progress on distributing them in the four villages according to the following figure: (Mahajeh 2900 parcels, Altaibah 2000 parcels, Alnajeeh 300 parcels, Mejedel 300 parcels).

Due to adverse weather conditions resulted in a flooding that hit Al-Areesha Camp in Hassakeh city, SARC- Hassakeh branch responded to the affected people there on Thursday, December 06, 2018. SARC’s response consisted of a humanitarian relief aid convoy (22 trucks) carrying 9710 blankets, 6000 mattresses and 2000 canned-food parcels. The relief aid items are supported by the ICRC.

The Syrian Arab Red Crescent is proud to have been appointed as Sphere new focal point in Syria. Sphere standards are the most famous in the whole world to define the minimum standers of the humanitarian response while preserving the dignity of the affected people and protecting them from disasters, as well as the commitment to the basic humanitarian standards.

This new responsibility assured SARC’s commitment to the humanitarian principles and places an obligation to promote and advocate for the application of the Sphere standards at country-level.

Damascus: 3/11/2018

Today the Syrian Arab Red Crescent is reaching Ar-Rukban Camp as part of joint aid convoy with United Nations to deliver lifesaving humanitarian assistance to 50.000 people.

The joint aid convoy was planned to be delivered last week, and has be delayed due to logistics issues and security concerns.

78 trucks are delivering 10.475 food parcels and flour bags, clothes for 18.000 children, 10.075 hygiene kits and plastic sheets, newborn baby kits for 1200 children, medicines, medical supplies and nutritional supplements for children and women.

SARC dispatched a humanitarian aid truck to approximately 650 families; most of them are women and children, in Roge and Nayrouz camps in Al-Malkieh town located to the extreme north-east of Syria.

SARC volunteers distributed the delivered aid (740 canned-food parcels, 740 hygiene kits and 160 boxes of baby diapers provided by ICRC) with attendance of a delegation headed by Marianne Gasser, the ICRC’s head of delegation in Syria, and Mr. Ali Mansour, Head of SARC branch in Hassakeh.

The Humanitarian Support Project at Ekremah Community Center in Homs, funded by the #UNHCR.Syria completed 2 Community based initiatives to rehabilitate 2 gardens “Al-Batoul” and “Jarousha” with the help and support of the residents that full heartedly suggested the initiatives to provide a safe haven for children and seniors.

Syrian Arab Red Crescent delivered two humanitarian aid shipments to Douma city in Eastern Ghouta on 21-22/10/2018.

The first shipment (3 trucks) carried 1008 blankets and 2500 hygiene kits provided by the ICRC, while the second one (5 trucks) carried 200 mattresses and 500 hygiene kits provided by ICRC; and 1925 food parcels and 50 boxes of nutritional supplements provided by WFP and 500 plastic sheets provided by the UNHCR.

The Syrian Arab Red Crescent volunteers in Hassakeh carried out an emergency response in Al-Meridian neighborhood for the population affected by Al-Khabour River floods, which resulted from the heavy rainfall two days ago and caused material damages and loss in livestock. The relief team conducted the needed assessment and registration, while other teams distributed 130 food parcels provided by the ICRC. SARC’s first aid squads participated also in the response.

SARC dispatched the second relief aid convoy to 13 areas in Al-Lajaa in the eastern rural of Daraa (Al-Tiraa, Al-Mitaleh, Al-Jisry, Mazraa Al-Abed, Kirata, Msaikeh Al-Gharbieh, Al-Mzairaa, Al-Khawabi, Al-Braiktaa, Al-Madaress, Msaikeh Al-Sharkieh, Al-Blaneh and Kom Al-Rouman) on Thursday, October 18, 2018.

A delegation from The Un agencies (WFP, WHO and UNHCR) accompanied the convoy, which carried 2700 food parcels and 2700 flour bags provided by the WFP.

The Humanitarian Support Project of SARC opened a Satellite Center funded by @UNHCR.SYRIA

The center offers its services including: Psychosocial Support, Child Protection, Educational Services, General and Medical in-Kind Assistance.

The Satellite Center will expand its services to its neighboring communities such as: Ain Al-Thawra, Ain Aisha, Thabia, Al-Mushaqaq, Nabea’ Al-Fawar, Al-Jouwayza, Kom Slouqiyeh, Kom Mihres.

SARC’s volunteers distributed relief non-food items to 300 families in Otaia town in Eastern Ghouta on 14-15/10/2018. The items consisted of 1345 blankets and 550 mattresses provided by the UNHCR.

SARC dispatched a humanitarian aid convoy (17 trucks) to Eastern Rural of Daraa city on Thursday, September 20, 2018.

9 trucks loaded with 2000 food parcels and 2000 flour bags headed to Saida, while the other 8 trucks headed to Al-Naymeh carrying 1500 food parcels and 1500 flour bags.

These relief items are provided by WFP.
