[Mae Sot, 11 October 2017] The Mae Tao Clinic announced today the public launch of its fundraising campaign. The fundraising campaign aims to raise funds for its 2018 operational costs in order to continue its provision of essential health care, education and protection to over 250,000 displaced and vulnerable people from Burma/Myanmar. Since it was founded in 1989, the Mae Tao Clinic has served as a primary health facility along the Thailand-Burma/Myanmar border.

Joint Statement by 68 organisations

We, the undersigned civil society organizations, condemn the arrest, detention and prosecution of six people, including three journalists, under the 1908 Unlawful Associations Act in Myanmar. We demand that the charges against them are dropped and that the three journalists are immediately and unconditionally released, as they have been detained solely in connection with their peaceful journalistic activities.

The Emergency Assistance Team (EAT-BURMA) is working at the grassroots level to provide aid and assistance to the people affected by Cyclone Nargis in the Irrawaddy and Rangoon division areas.

EAT is working with networks of local organisations and concerned individuals in Burma to get food, water, cooking equipment, shelter, clothing, health services and rehabilitation to those most in need.
