Only a few days after an earthquake hit the central Chilean region around the city of Concepcíon, DHL stepped in with its DHL Disaster Response Team (DRT) to help the local Chilean authorities to transport relief goods to areas that were particularly hard hit by the earthquake.

Assistance will enhance medical care for more than 140,000 Iraqis
April 28, 2008, Portland, OR - DHL, the express and logistics company, has teamed up with the global relief and development agency Mercy Corps to send $9.6 million worth of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies to southern Iraq. The emergency supplies will be distributed to hospitals in Iraqi cities that are short on resources and near the frontlines of recent fighting.
After 10 days of operating from the Pisco Air Base located in Southern Peru, the DHL Disaster Response Team (DRT) for the Americas has completed a successful mission. Two teams were deployed to manage the surge in inbound freight sent by national and international Aid agencies, governments, churches, NGOs and private citizens. In common with other recent disasters, the first day was spent buying, hiring or borrowing warehouse equipment, and then it was a case of palletizing and consolidating all the freight by product.
