IRBIL, Oct 12 (KUNA) -- Kuwait continued its humanitarian aid through adopting the treatment of 180 injured civilians from Mosul city, those with artificial limbs, in a private hospital in Irbil Thursday.
In a statement to KUNA, the Consul General of Kuwait, Dr. Omar Al-Kandari, said this is part of a medical projects carried out by Kuwait to help displaced Iraqis and those affected by the recent military operations, in support with the Kuwait Relief Society and the Kuwait Red Crescent.
ANKARA, Oct 9 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Al-Salam Humanitarian and Charity Society inaugurated on Monday a factory for tailoring and handicraft works for Syrian women refugees in the town of Sanliurfa in Southeast Turkey.
The large building was established and equipped with donations amounting to USD 600,000 from citizens of Kuwait and other GCC countries, said the society general director and chairman, Dr. Nabil Al-Aoun, in a statement at the inauguration ceremony.
RIYADH, Oct 9 (KUNA) -- The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief) Supervisor General Dr. Samer Al-Jelati announced that the center has successful treated 740,000 out of the 750,000 cholera-infected Yemenis.
The patients have recovered and the remaining 10,000 are receiving treatment now, Al-Jelati told reporters in a press conference held in Riyadh Monday about the center's activities in Yemen.
The Kuwaiti Al-Najat Charity held on Thursday tests for Syrian children to assess their intellectual and educational levels prior to registration in private schools.
These quizzes aim to help Syrian children who failed to get education over past years nerolled in private schools, said Dr. Abdulmohsen Al-Hwailah, the assistant undersecretary for private education at the Ministry of Education.
Dr. Al-Hwailah was speaking during a tour at the exam venues, schools of Al-Najat Charity, involving 1,250 male and female Syrian children.
BAGHDAD, Oct 4 (KUNA) -- Two people were killed by a suicide car bomb explosion in northern Baghdad, Iraqi police said Wednesday.
The blast took place in Al-Husseiniya suburb in north of Baghdad, a police source told KUNA, adding that four other people were wounded in the attack.
The police transported the wounded to the hospital, it said, pointing out the so-called Islamic State (IS) as the possible suspect behind the blast. (end) ahh.ma
ISTANBUL, Oct 3 (KUNA) -- A Turkish cruise ship in the Mediterranean rescued a wandering boat carrying 75 immigrants, carrying children and women on Tuesday.
In the region between Sicily Island of Italy and city of Pylos in Greece, 75 immigrants were rescued by Turkish company Turkon Line, ship's crew of company Ibrahim Dede, and was handed over to Greek authorities.
Turkon Line CEO, Alkin Kalkavan said that a ship carrying containers from Izmir to Algeciras Port of Spain rescued illegal immigrants.
CAIRO, Oct 1 (KUNA) -- The Arab League on Sunday said that it was imperative to introduce legislation granting displaced children and refugees proper identification at birth, which would ensure their socio-economic rights.
The remarks were made by the regional bloc's assistant secretary general ambassador Bader Al-Din Allali, as he addressed an Arab conference dealing with women's rights and equality in obtaining identification.

IRBIL, Sept 22 (KUNA) -- Kuwait distributed 75 tons of food and drinking water for displaced Iraqis in Mosul and Dahuk governorate on Friday.
The items were delivered to 2,000 displaced Iraqi families living in poor conditions, head of Dahuk office at Barzani Charitable Society Waheed Saleem told KUNA.
He hailed Kuwait's continuous aid that saved the lives of many displaced Iraqi children facing lack of food.
The aid is part of the "Kuwait beside you" campaign, provided by Kuwait's Al-Najat Charity.
BEIRUT, Sept 22 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) has launched a new phase of aid for Syrian displaced people through its various projects in Lebanon.
Head of KRCS' mission in Lebanon, Dr. Mousaed Al-Anzi, told KUNA that the Society launched the ninth phase of its dialysis project for the sixth year in the Orange Nassau Hospital in Tripoli to treat patients suffering from kidney diseases.
BAGHDAD, Sept 19 (KUNA) Three people were killed while 34 others were injured in a terrorist attack targeting an area in Saladin province north of the capital Baghdad, said a security source Tuesday.
Speaking to the press, Interior Ministry spokesman Colonel Saad Ma'en revealed that two terrorists detonated their explosives while outside a restaurant in AlHajaj area near Tikrit city in Saladin province.
BAGHDAD, Sept 16 (KUNA) -- At least nine people were killed and seven others wounded when a suicide bomber blew up himself in Miqdadiyah city, Diyala Governorate, some 80 km northeast Baghdad, on Saturday.
A police officer and a civilian are among the dead and three policemen are among those injured, Spokesman of the Ministry of Interior Brig. Saad Maan said in a statement.

BAGHDAD, Sept 14 (KUNA) -- Kuwait provided 1,500 aid baskets to displaced Iraqi families in Mosul city, said an official Thursday.Speaking to KUNA, Chairman of the United Iraqi Medical Society (UIMS) Dr. Ahmad Al-Hayti said that aid baskets have been given to displaced families residing in Nineveh province.
The campaign is funded by Zakat House and supervised by Iraqi medical society as well as Kuwaiti embassy.

KUWAIT, Sept 8 (KUNA) -- Kuwait is allocating USD 1.5 million worth of urgent aid for the stricken Muslim Rohingya community in Myanmar, says the Minister of Awqaf.
Al-Jabri, also Minister of Islamic Affairs and Minister of State for Municipal Affairs, said in a statement to KUNA that the Kuwaiti assistance is intended to relieve the Muslims in Myanmar and help them bear burden of the extraordinary circumstances they are going through.

BEIRUT, Sept 2 (KUNA) -- The Kuwait-based Zakat House has distributed chunks of meat to Syrian refugees as part of marking Eid Al-Adha.
The meat distribution was carried out through collaboration with the Lebanese Dar Al-Fatwa's Relief Committee.
In statements to KUNA, the committee head said that chunks of meat were handed to 1,360 refugee families in Beirut, Riyath Eitani. More batches of meat will also be doled out to 5,040 displaced families residing in the districts of Arsal, Baalbek, Akkar, Tripoli, and Rashaya in northeastern Lebanon, he added.
BAGHDAD, Aug 25 (KUNA) -- Around six new Kuwaiti-financed schools of prefabricated units have been built in Iraq's northern province of Nineveh, located on the outskirts of Mosul, an Iraqi health activist said Friday.
The schools, made of caravans, are part of phase five of a construction project financed by the Kuwaiti humanitarian campaign "Kuwait by your side", Dr. Ahmad Al-Haity, Chairman of the United Iraqi Medical Society for Relief and Development (UIMS), told KUNA.

KUWAIT, Aug 24 (KUNA) -- Kuwait continued to deliver aid to Iraq's third largest city of Basra on Thursday, the latest installment of a campaign put together by a Kuwaiti charity.
