SLAMABAD: The Pakistan Red Crescent (PRC) on Thursday handed the first consignment of relief goods over to the Turkish Ambassador S. Babür Girgin for onward distribution to the Syrian refugees through Turkish Red Crescent.

The relief items included 10,000 blankets, 5,000 jackets and 5,000 shirts.

The handover ceremony took place at the President House, Islamabad.

The proposed project aims to provide safe drinking water by using alternative energy to improve health, hygiene and the overall well-being of villagers.

In the wake of Sunday’s deadly bomb blast in Lahore, Pakistan Red Crescent emergency response teams rushed to the scene of the attack in Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park to assist the wounded. Doctors, paramedics and a team of 20 volunteers from the Red Crescent’s Punjab Branch were deployed together with six ambulances to provide first aid and transport the dead and injured to different hospitals in Lahore.

The National Ambulance Service College has been established, in collaboration with the National Ambulance Services College Ireland in 2015 as the first ever institution under the aegis of Pakistan Red Crescent.

It is situated at the PRC National Head Quarters H-8, Islamabad. All departments possess highly qualified and experienced and trained faculty, from within the country and abroad. All Professors / head of departments are certified trainers from established authorities.

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistani Red Crescent has deployed Emergency Response Teams have reached to the earthquake affected areas and shifted dozens of people to different hospitals.

The PRC KPK branch soon after the EQ on the information of house collapsed dispatched emergency teams with ambulances to Faqirabad and Sarozai payman viallge and shifted over 18 injured to Lady Reading Hospital.

On the directions of PRC Chairman Dr Saeed Elahi, the emergency response teams were deployed in Chitral, Swat, Manshera, Bajore, Dir, and Malakand.

Chinese Embassy to Pakistan Charged’ Affairs Mr Zhao Lijian on Monday donated US $ 50000 to Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) for flood victims.

Mr Zhao Lijian handed over the donation cheque to PRCS Secretary General Dr Rizwan Naseer at the PRCS National Headquarters.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Zhao Lijian said that the Chinese Government and people stand with their Pakistani brethrens in this hour of need.

The Pakistan Red Crescent Society Gilgit-Baltistan provincial branch has provided relief items to 26 victimized families of recent flood in village Oshikhandas of Gilgit district.

The reliefs goods were included tarpaulin sheets,blankets, kitchen sets, oil stoves, water cans,latrine slabs and hygiene kits.

PRCS Provincial Secretary Noor-ul-Ain along with PRCS team distributed the relief items to the effectees in presence of tehsil administration authorities.

According to the available reports of NDMA dated 22nd July, 2015 and various reports from PDMA and local authorities, Monsoon rains have so far affected 322,000 people and caused 9 deaths in Punjab, KP and Balochistan.

Summary: In the first week of September, the four eastern rivers of Pakistan (Chenab, Ravi,
Sutlej, Jhelum) overflowed and triggered flash flooding in the Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK),
Gilgit Baltistan (GB), and Punjab regions. This resulted in loss of life, inundation of a large area of land, damage to property and infrastructure, and agriculture and livestock losses. According to the report of NDMA dated 15th Oct, 2014 and Recovery Framework 2014-2016, Monsoon rains had affected 2.53 million caused 367 deaths and 673 people got injured in AJK,
Punjab,KP and GB.

According to the report of NDMA dated 15th Oct, 2014 and Recovery Framework 2014-2016, Monsoon rains had affected 2.53 million caused 367 deaths and 673 people got injured in AJK, Punjab,KP and GB.

Initially PRCS has catered the emergency needs of the people through provision of 4500 x Food packs of 22 kg in different districts of Punjab along-with provision of Non Food Items (NFIs) (comprising of emergency shelter & essential household items) to 3,370 x families.
