Announcing the grant today (October 20), a spokesman for the Government said that the grant will be used to provide temporary shelter materials. The Committee hopes the grant will facilitate the provision of timely relief to the victims and help them restore their normal living.

Local farmers who suffered serious losses caused by Typhoon Merbok can register with the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) from tomorrow (June 14) to June 22 for assistance from an emergency relief fund.

An AFCD spokesman said today (June 13) that an appropriate amount of the relief fund would be released to affected farming households according to established criteria.
