10 October 2017, Harare – the Office of the President and Cabinet, and the UN Resident Coordinator convened the first multi-stakeholders meeting of Zimbabwe Development Cooperation Forum bringing together some 150 senior officials from Government, United Nations, Ambassadors and Diplomats accredited to Zimbabwe, Non-Government and Civil Society Organizations today in the capital, Harare.

05 October 2017, Harare – the United Nations Team in Zimbabwe concluded a three-day field visit (2-5 October 2017) to UN-supported humanitarian, community asset and resilience building projects in Masvingo, Mwenezi and Chivi Districts in Masvingo Province.

The UN Team delegation, led by the United Nations Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative, Mr. Bishow Parajuli, included: UNICEF Representative, Dr. Mohamed Ayoya; IOM Chief of Mission, Ms. Lily Sanya; UNDP Country Director, Mr. Georges Van Monfort, and WFP Deputy Country Director, Mr. Niels Balzer.

20 September 2017, Harare - The United Nations Team in Zimbabwe, in support of national development priorities and in partnership with development partners, reiterates its commitments articulated under the 2016-2020 Zimbabwe United Nations Development Assistance Framework (ZUNDAF).

The United Nations, through the ZUNDAF, continues its support in poverty reduction, advancing good governance and gender equality, and enhancing service delivery in education, health, water and sanitation, protection, and food and nutrition security.

I have witnessed how communities are struggling to cope with the harsh drought induced by the worst El Niño in 35 years.

I visited, together with officials from the Office of the President and Cabinet, and the Ambassadors of Democratic Republic of Congo, Botswana, Malawi and Charge de Affaire of Angola, four hard-hit districts (Umguza, Bupi, Lupane and Binga) in Matabeleland North in mid-March 2016.

The UN country team has received a copy of a letter from Minister of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare to all Private Voluntary Organizations (PVOs) and Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in Zimbabwe, requesting the "suspension of all field operations until further notice". This decision is most regrettable, as it goes against fundamental humanitarian principles, and significantly undermines efforts by humanitarian agencies to deliver relief aid to those in greatest need.
