TOKYO — The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria welcomes the Japanese Diet’s passage of the fiscal 2016 supplementary budget and the fiscal 2017 budget, which includes Japan’s contribution of US$313 million to the Global Fund.
Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida said: “As a founder of the Global Fund, Japan has always attached the utmost importance to the Global Fund. I believe this contribution once again highlights Japan’s intention to contribute even further to addressing global health challenges based on the principle of leaving no one behind.”
GENEVA – The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria today welcomed the payment by Japan of US$ 289 million, the first tranche of a pledge of US$800 million announced in December 2013 at the 4th Global Fund Replenishment Launch in Washington DC.

WASHINGTON D.C. – Donors at the launch of the Global Fund’s Fourth Replenishment today pledged US$12.0 billion for the next three years, the largest amount ever committed to fight against AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria.
The pledges represent a 30 percent increase over the US$9.2 billion in firm pledges secured in 2010 for the 2011-2013 period. In remarks made at a pledging session here today, several partners echoed the Global Fund leadership’s determination to attract further commitments during the coming three years in order to defeat the diseases.

WASHINGTON – The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria welcomed the announcement today by the Government of Japan of a contribution of US$800 million over the coming years, underscoring its strong and sustained commitment to the Global Fund.
Geneva - The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria today welcomed the payment by Japan of the second and final tranche of its total 2012 contribution of US$ 343 million, the highest annual amount that Japan has ever made in 10 years of vigorous support for the Global Fund.
The payment of the second tranche of US$ 127 million follows a first payment of US$ 216 million which was made in March.
