As of the 4th of May, The Washington Volcanic Ash Advisory Center (WVAAC) & colleage Dr. Jophn Seach has reported that volcanic activity has resumed at Langila volcano in Papua New Guinea. Hotspots are visible on satellite images of the volcano from April 22 to May 1. Ash emissions are visible to an altitude of 7000 ft. Volcanic activity at Langila consists of mild to moderate explosive eruptions sometimes accompanied by lava flows.
On July 25 2004 at 22.40 (local time) new eruption occured at the Egon volcano
Ash explosion along with rumbling sounds revealed material explosions rose up to ~ 1000-1500m above the summit. Black thick column drifted to the NW-N and sulphur gas smelt very strong. Seismograph PS-2 recorded duration of the eruptions were ~ 2 hours and 30 minutes with amplitude 30-35 mm. People on the villages spontaneously went off to the places more save but it just temporarily. The refugees going back home after the situation was normal.

As of the 7th of June, the Directorate of Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (DVGHM) reported that Awu volcano has shown increased volcanic activity in the past 48 hours, and evacuation of residents has begun from the surrounding areas. Some of the refugees are being sheltered in Tahuna, a town some 15 kilometres to the southeast.
As of the 2nd of February, VAAC reported that Egon volcano began erupting on Thursday 29th January when it began ejecting lava and ash into the sky.
As of the 2nd of December, the Instituto Geofisico (IG), reports that in the morning of today, the 911 and COE Airport they reported diverse calls on the scent of sulfur in diverse sectors of the city. It is necessary to clarify that the volcano has not presented/displayed any important emission or explosion and fundamentally stays with emissions of gases and water steam and occasionally with a little ash, as was reported early in the morning of today.
As of the 1st of December, the Instituto Geofisico (IG), reports that the volcano remains with a low level of seismic activity. Today the volcano has remained dimmed and not repored pf any newness on the matter of the activity. The possibility exists of registering scents of sulfur in the city and Aledanos valleys, nevertheless, these do not respond to an increase in the activity, but soley to degasification permanent that it experiences with the volcano.
As of the 26th of November, , the Instituto Geofisico (IG), reports that although in the last hours, the volcano has remained with a level relatively under activity, the continuous emissions that have been registered again formed an ash cloud that according to the report of an airplane of Tame in Quito-Guayaquil route, is to a height of 4500 meters of altitude above sea level.
As of the 24th of November, and after having been translated from Spanish, the Instituto Geofisico (IG), reports that any variation in the volcanic activity has not been registered that remains very low without registering seismic events nor tremor. In spite of this, of the observations of the Thursday, is presumed that, one by and the two lava flows side the crater the South other by the North side, very slowly continue advancing.
As of the 21st of November, the Instituto Geofisico (IG), reports that the number of earthquakes that was entered by hundreds, now has descended to so single few and also tremor to descended considerably, which indicates that the conduit of the volcano is and the lava as well as gas emanation totally open, are processes that happen without greater resistance.
As of the 20th of November, the Instituto
Geofisico (IG), reports that during the morning of today reports of presence
of scent of sulfur in diverse places of the city of Quito have been received.

anomaly, as the previous times one is related to the activity that maintains the volcano el Reventador from day 3 of November. The magmatic gases that are emitted from the volcanic chimney are transported by the
As of the 18th of November, and after having been translated from Spanish, the Instituto Geofisico (IG), reports that in the 3 first hours of the day a slight increase of seismic activity was registered and from this moment a slight tendency exists to diminish.
As of the 13th of November, the Instituto Geofisico (IG), reported to EVS that the level of seismic activity during the night and the morning of today to yesterday stayed in similar conditions to registered the day Monday. That is to say, the tremor of bottom with hybrid earthquakes and long period stays, some of them related to emissions. In the afternoon of yesterday, in the sector of Papallacta one slight ash fall noticed that did not bring greater consequences.
As of the 12th of November, the Instituto Geofisico (IG), reported to the EVS that a volcanic cloud descended on parts of the Ecuadorean capital Monday, forcing the mayor to close schools and health officials to warn residents to protect themselves against respiratory ailments. The grayish sulfuric cloud came from the 11,775-foot Reventador volcano, which began erupting Nov. 3. It is located 60 miles northeast of the capital, in a region where the Andes mountains butt up against Ecuador's Amazon rain forest.
As of the 10th of November, the Instituto Geofisico (IG), reported to the SVE that the activity of seismic in the volcano has stayed equal to the observed thing in day of and is characterized yesterday by hybrid earthquakes and of long period, with a signal of continuous tremor. These signals are related to gas discharges.
As of the 8th of November, the Instituto Geofisico (IG), reportet to EVS that Reventador volcano erupted again on Thursday morning around 9am local time. Ashfall is expected in Quito. At 0637 hours, seismographs of the Geophysical Institute began to register an increase in the seismic activity, same that were accompanied of an ash emission and the gases that rose to a considered height of 7 km, observed by our displaced personnel the zone from Sunday.
As of the 7th of November, the Instituto Geofisico (IG), reports that the activity of Reventador volcano during the last hours is transformed next:
As of the 5th of November, the Instituto Geofisico (IG), reported at the EVS that 5 low intensity exhalations accompannied by steam and gas.In addition, there were some episodes of low amplitude harmonic tremor for about one hour. Also, two volcano-tectonic earthquakes were located. One at 5 km below the crater and other, with depth of 4.7 km, in the southeastern sector of the volcano. Both with magnitude 2.0.
As of the 31st of October, the Instituto Geofisico (IG), reports that a total of 40 very small events of long period and 14 small emissions has been entered. Today there have been observed steam columns with something of ash. Due to the action of winds in the zone, the columns went towards and the N, and reached heights of 1000 m on the crater. The volcano continues showing own moderate levels of seismicity of a later activity an increase in the seismic parameters that happened month of this past August.
As of the 28th of October, the Instituto Geofisico (IG), reports that there has been 1 event of long period, 1 volcano-tectonic and one signal associated with rock fall was registered in the north part of the volcano. The Guardian of the Refuge could observe that the fumarolic activity was moderate. The fumaroles reached 300 m of height and caused a slight sound that could be listened to from the edge of the volcanic crater. On the other hand, the scent to sulfur was a little more stop than the normal thing.
During a flight over Nyiragongo on 27 September, researchers' views into the crater were obscured by a large gas plume. The plume was present from mid-September through at least 10 October and reached to ~3 km above the volcano.
