EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The world faces a severe nutrition crisis. Nearly 2 billion people lack key micronutrients like iron and vitamin A, 155 million children under five are stunted, 52 million children are wasted, while a growing number of children (41 million) are overweight [1,3,4]. Tackling these challenges requires not only strong financial commitment from governments and donors, but also a coordinated and multisectoral approach to address the immediate and underlying causes of malnutrition.

The Rapid Response Mechanism (RRM) is designed to monitor humanitarian action, conduct multisector assessments, emergency non-food items distributions (NFI) and water, sanitation and hygiene interventions (WASH) when there is no capacity on site. Currently, RRM is made possible through the generous support of the European Union Civil Protection and Humaniarian Aid Office (ECHO), the Office of U.S. Foreign Disaster Assistance (OFDA), the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).

Humanitarian Crisis in Free Fall

After almost four years of conflict, and despite all efforts to halt displacement, hunger and disease, Yemen remains the worst humanitarian crisis on earth. The suffering inflicted on Yemeni people is entirely manmade and will continue to deteriorate rapidly on all fronts without actions to end the violence.

Action Against Hunger, along with other international organizations working in Yemen, is extremely concerned by the latest advances of pro-government forces in and around Hodeida and the consequent cutting off of routes to the North and East of the country. Already, hundreds of thousands of people have been displaced in Hodeida governorate, and this latest attack will likely result in a new wave of displacement as people flee fearing the conflict.

• Fermeture du forage Christine le 28 mai après une bonne pluie qui a rempli les mares.

A. Rappel du contexte et justification de l’intervention En décembre 2017, des séries d’affrontements ont eu lieu entre deux groupes armés rivaux dans les localités autour de Paoua. Le 21 février 2018, sur l’axe Paoua-Boguila, le village Korozian a été attaqué, des maisons incendiées, des biens pillés et une personne tuée. Cet incident a contraint la population à fuir à Paoua, Boguila et en brousse laissant tous leurs biens.
