The Interagency Working Group on Reproductive Health in Crisis (IAWG) calls on the international community to ensure that the sexual and reproductive health (SRH) and protection needs of Rohingya women and girls displaced in Bangladesh are fully met. Without urgent action, maternal and newborn deaths, sexual violence and other lifethreatening disabilities and illnesses will rise.
The 2010 Inter-agency Field Manual on Reproductive Health in Humanitarian Settings is an update of the 1999 Reproductive Health in Refugee Situations: An Inter-agency Field Manual, the authoritative guidance on reproductive health interventions in humanitarian settings.
This field manual aims to facilitate discussion
and decision-making in planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation
of reproductive health (RH); guide field staff in introducing and/or strengthening
RH intervention in refugee situations; and advocate for a multi-sectoral
approach to meeting the RH needs of refugees and foster coordination. It
provides information on the following components of reproductive health:
- Minimum initial service package
- Safe motherhood
- Sexual violence
- Sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV/AIDS
- Family planning
