OVER 600,000 MEALS SERVED, 4522 VOLUNTEERS ON THE FIELD AND MANY MORE READY TO GO

An extraordinary demonstration of solidarity, both from Italy and abroad has permitted the Italian Red Cross to raise significant funds from voluntary donations. To date, more than 6 million Euros have been raised (6.017.152,21 is the exact sum). The funds raised by the ItRC will be used in Abruzzo to provide social and health care assistance and to cater to the needs of the population.

THE RED CROSS CAMPS ARE NOW 8 WITH A TOTAL OF 5000 BEDS - MORE THAN 4 MILLION EUROS RAISED

The Italian Red Cross has taken on as of today another two camps: Cagnano Amiterno and Acciano. The total number of beds managed by the It.R.C. is 5000. The mobile kitchen of Acciano will provide meals for the camps of Rocca Preturo, Beffi and Succiano. The other It.R.C. camps are in San Benedetto di Bagno, Assergi, San Gregorio, Collemaggio, Coppito and Centicolella.

Meanwhile, more than 4 million Euros have been raised by the Red Cross for the earthquake: 4.160.808,21 Euros is the sum raised.

During the visit of the Secretary General of the International Federation of Red Cross Red Crescent National Societies, Bekele Geleta, to l'Aquila in the areas hit by the earthquake (see the photographs), the National Commissioner Francesco Rocca, for the first time, gave the figures regarding the presence of the Red Cross there.

The Italian Red Cross has been a sound reference point for all those who have wanted to participate in a tangible way in helping the population hit by the earthquake in Abruzzo.

    The Ministry for Equal Opportunities, Happy Family non-profit organization has given the Italian Red Cross the management of the two playrooms with a capacity for 100 children which will be opened this afternoon in L'Aquila in the Red Cross camp of Coppito.
