On August 6 units of the Chechen army carried out a military operation under the name 'enforcement of peace' (prinuzhdenie k miru). As a result of the operation the Chechen side has taken under her control the towns of Grozny and Argun. The town Gudermes is under heavy fighting. The puppet government under Doku Zavgaev fled to the airport of Khankala and to Mozdok. The reasons for this operation are the following:
1. All agreements have been blocked by the Russian side, among them the treaty of 30 July 1996 which was signed in Moscow and in Ingushetia.
